[REPORT] - Norcold 1200 replaced with Fisher & Paykel
Exactly a month ago, I posted that my 10 year old Norcold finally bit the dust (see post). I wanted to report back with the outcome.
As I mentioned, I was very space constrained on height due to the fridge being over a furnace. Also with the fridge being halfway in the hallway going to the back bedroom, I definitely needed something counter-depth and with double doors. The only decent size unit that would fit was the Fisher & Paykel RF170ADX4.
I had the work done at Creative Coach in Lakeland, FL. While they are not cheap, after interviewing them and others I felt they had the knowledge and skill to get the job done right. Here are the before and after photos.
I am looking forward to the extra space, better cooling, actually having everything in the freezer FROZEN and not having to defrost!
Oh, almost forgot... In other posts, folks showed how they secured the doors while driving. This never came up when I was working with Creative - I had other work they were doing for me, and I forgot about this detail.
Here is what I chose to do that results in no permanent modification to the cabinet. I had some of these little straps I found at Container Store and I think that is all that is needed to make sure the fridge doors do not swing open. The freezer drawer takes a good but of pressure to open, so I don't think it will open during transit.
