Reverse polarity fuse problem

Just bought a used 2010 Raptor 300mp and the unit had no battery when i purchased it. I installed a new battery and hooked it up wrong and blew some fuses. I replaced all of the blown fuses that i could find and now when the trailer is energized it blows a 5amp fuse in the remote control panel labeled reverse polarity safety. Everything works in the trailer except the options that are hooked up to the remote (ie. pop outs, awning, porch light, landing gear, and stabilizer jacks). The fuses I had to replace were the 2 40amp on the back of the converter, the 15amp #2 fuse on the interior panel for the slide, and the 5amp in the remote control panel in the pass through storage I am having the issue with. Any help would be appreciated, Trying to take the family out between Christmas and New Years.

YOu say devices that work off a REMOTE do not work.. This means they are controlled by a battery operated radio transmitter (is the battery any good) and a 12 volt operated Radio Receiver.

You blew fuses.. but you know what blows faster than a fuse? The power supply transistors and diodes in the remote receiver. There are two ways to protect them from reverse polarity, The way I'd do it, and the way many companies do it.

The way I'd do it, there is no damage if you hook up backwards.

The slide outs are usually on the battery with their own red wire, not the other red wire from the battery to the converter. You might have corrected the wiring for the converter part but the other stuff is still mis-wired? Look for where the second positive wire is attached.

BFL13, would you send me a PM or an email to trackrig@gmail.com please.

  • You bought a trailer
Any white wires at the battery are most likely ground/negative
    Red is hot positive
    A black and white pair
The black is hot/positive and white is ground

You might find black and white pairs going to 12 lights water pump etc..
The black will be the positive the white will be the negative
Think hot and neutral only for 12v not 110v

    It's odd, it's old, and it's a pita

  • With a meter can you verify the polarity of the voltage going into the Remote control panel?

If it is correct, the panel may be damaged and require repair or replacement.

Maybe call the mfgr and get their advice.
