Shurflo water pump no working

Picked up a new Palomino Puma and are camping where there is no city's after so we filled the water tank and are trying to use the pump but it only spits and hisses water. It's a brand new 2014, can see the strainer thru the plastic housing and its clean. Pump runs and runs! Help?

    When first using a new trailer the pump has to fill water heater tank (6-10 gallons) then it can pump water thru system.

    Turn pump ON
    Open hot side of faucet and let it spit/hiss until water heater is full and air is out of line
    Then open cold side and repeat.

    Pump can run dry without harming it-------rubber parts. So let it run and get the air out of system/lines
