Well, actually you CAN, and you can probably get away with it. But that's not the right way to do it.
And an RV is not a stick & brick house. You "can" get away with a lot of things like this in an RV. Who's going to inspect it?
But, it's still not the "right" way. The "right" way is to have the junction in an electric junction box, or added at a light, or a plug where the junction is accessible.
Nothing wrong with wire nuts. After attaching the wire nut, tape the whole thing up with electrical tape.
