now, we all know that Teflon tape comes in yellow and white. the yellow is for gas lines and the white for plumbing. My question is this, what direction do you put the tape on the pipe, clock wise or counter clock wise. this could be the question of the day. I must be getting really, really bored.

Clockwise. Otherwise as your threading something on to it your unraveling the tape.Or you could just use pipe-dope and not have to remember!

hold pipe in right hand.put beginning of tape to top.spin pipe clock wise.regardless of directions or interpretation, you want the tape to continue to be wrapped while it is being screwed in. You don't want the friction of spinning into the female thread to unwrap it.

Generally.

But flammable gas cylinders (all I've ever seen) are threaded backwards. The nut to connect the cylinder to a hose will have a notch in it. So the tape goes counterclockwise.
