Trimark keyless troubleshooting? Resolved!

Here is the solution. On the production floor, the assembler did not crimp the connectors to the back of the contact strip on the frame side. Nor were they crimped on the door side of the contact strip. This allowed the wires to come loose during transit.

I called Winnebago and gave them the wiring harness number and they told me what wire went where.

Saved a trip to the dealership!

When we did our PDI everybody including us forgot to check the Trimark keyless lock. Well, guess what? It doesn't work. Trimark is one of those companies that will not talk directly to consumers. They refer you back to Winnebago who refers you back to their dealer network. I'm going to call Winnebago on Monday and see if they will work with a mobile tech.

We are full timing with pets and LaMesa in Phoenix will work us in since it is a new unit, but it will be a pain you know where. Would rather troubleshoot myself first.

Here is what I've done so far. Both fobs don't work. When I press lock, I can hear a faint click and the porch light will come on, but I can't hear anything in the door itself. Door lock rocker switch on passenger console not working either.

I found the location of the control box and followed Trimark's video instructions on programming the fobs just in case. Pressed reset button three times, LED light lit and blinked as shown when the fob lock button was pressed. No change in operation when lock button pushed. Porch light came on as before. So, I know that the fobs and control box are talking to each other.

I assume that I could take the door lock apart and check for 12 volt signal to locking mechanism.

Your thoughts?

    Ok got it. But there are four wires. Behind the door contact plate the wires are blue, green, blue, green. The wires on the frame side of the contact are three white numbered wires and one yellow wire.

    In the Trimark install manual, green is unlock output and blue is lock output. So, would it take one of each color to reverse polarity on the lock and unlock?

    We'll see in the morning just how good Winnebago tech support is. I will report back.


    Usually if there are 4 wires, then 2 of those wires will go to the touchpad assbly if mounted ON the door instead of the sidewall next to the door. Doug

    There is a difference between a 12 volt SUPPLY on those 2 pins and a 12 volt actuator supply at those 2 pins. 99% of Door pins are for the ACTUATOR wires to the door motor and will NOT blow any fuse as I stated are just reverse polarity if connected backwards. SOME door locks, usually Towables use a 12 volt supply as the complete system is inside the door itself. Trimark systems do not do that on motorhomes. Doug

    When I was troubleshooting my lock problem, I got the wires on the door contact reversed and that fuse by the battery blew!!!!!!! If I had taken the jamb side off, I would of seen the colors, red and black both sides. So then I had to troubleshoot the 12v supply. I believe it was one of the reverse polarity fuses. I read about that one being on the frame behind the battery several times. At least I was at homeworking on it.

    Your wiring diagram MIGHT be available on the gowinnebago webpage. Used to be nearly all years/models were, but I've heard it ain't necessarily so of late. Could be worth a look.

    I just looked. The 2016 manuals are not there yet.

    When I discovered the problem with mine, I only had 2 wires and 2 contacts, it was easy-peasy, for me.

    My Winnie did that. The solution in my case.

    Take a screwdriver and take the insulator with the 2 spring loaded connectors off the the door frame. Mine had NO wires connected to the back side. Looking into the door frame, I saw, WONDER OF WONDERS, 2 wires with connectors that would JUST FIT the back of my, now removed, device. I plugged them into the back and re-attached it to the door frame, and VOILA, it worked.

    I don't know if polarity matters, I had a 50/50 chance of getting the polarity right, and hit it the first time.

    Now, I wish my chassis had a receiver. Mine did not come with key fobs. I had read on here that you can buy them and program them to work. I bought 2. Only after trying, unsuccessfully, to program them, I learned that not all chassis came with a receiver. My electric locks (including the house door, now) work with the switches on the cab doors, but no joy on key fobs. It isn't worth it to me to buy an aftermarket receiver and install it.

    Bingo! That is a solid troubleshooting suggestion. Will give it a shot.
