Waiting on my new Yamaha generator

So after much back and forth thinking and tons of reading and research, I bought a Yamaha 2400ishc generator from Amazon. Sold by ACME tool through Amazon. Expected delivery is this Thursday or Friday! Cant wait to get it and start the break in. I looked at Predators, Champions, Generacs, and even Honda and after all was said and done I got the Yamaha. It was just under $ 1,400.00 with shipping and no tax. I like the 3 year warranty parts and labor and its not to heavy but it has enough power for my needs.
A full review will be coming in a couple of weeks....

  • I own a Yamaha EF2400is and have had it for several years. I sized my generator to run my fridge, freezer and boiler for when we have power outages. When boondocking we do not use the AC so we do not worry whether it will run it. I am sure at places like races and stuff you might be able to run it for ac all night but not where I camp.
  • I have a 2007 Yamaha 2400is jenny that has provided exceptional service. In 2009 it ran nonstop except for refueling for 5 days during a power outage resulting from severe straight line winds bringing down power lines. It kept my refrig and freezer running without any food spoilage.

I have purchased the different sized carb jets to use when running it at various altitudes. I found out the hard way that extended running at 8500 ft in Rocky Mt NP on the sea level (standard) jet will carbon up the exhaust big time!

It runs my 13.5K AC as long as I don't use the microwave, etc. at the same time. Nothing like boondocking and the DW can blow dry her hair while I brew a fresh pot of coffee, recharge the batteries, etc.
  • Tell us how it works at your altitude at home and camping. I am a Yamaha addict though I have been happy with some Honda stuff as well.

  • DB has a Yamaha 2400 for his 5er and it runs the 13500 A/C just fine.
  • Nice choice. It will provide years of dependable service. Good luck.
  • I have had one for several years and really like it. No problem running my 13.5 air conditioner.
  • I got mine end of last season and have only used it on one trip so far. It did a great job. Through the winter I've run it once a month and it has always started on the first pull. Mine has run my 15.5k. Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
  • I think thats an excellent choice and I wish I had made the same one when I bought my Honda. You have just enough extra capacity to make it a more useful gen in a RV.
  • They are good generators, but with a 13500 BTU AC or a 15000 BTU AC, they may have issues, especially trying to start them. Make sure the econ switch is off, because the generator may not be able to spin up to "catch" the load when the compressor comes on.

I like my 3000 watt Yammy, but I do regret not getting the battery "boost" model with the 500 extra watts for eight seconds.
  • Looking forward to your review, Yamahas are good Generators for sure.....I think you made a good choice. One thing to keep in mind it costs about $70 to become an Amazon Prime member, many things ship free with prime.....
