Water Heater "Fault" Light

An easier way for RV'ers is to light the range top burners. IF they have a good blue flame, you then light the Furnace and the Water Heater and watch the range top burners. If they diminish or almost go out or way down in flame, you have an LP pressure problem. Doug

The Fault lite should be the SAME light for both LP and 120. Doug

I called Thor and they were very helpful. I have learned through you all and Thor that the fault light is only for the LP mode. The tech is puzzled why it would be on in the electric mode. I have learned that the water heater is working just fine, he had me run some of the hot water out and then put the switch in the LP mode. The LP heater clearly lit and the fault light is off again for the time being. As long as we have hot water life is good again. Thank you all for your help, you are great people!

AFAIK the only thing that lights the fault light is failure to ignite on gas after a few attempts. Assuming the washer uses propane, I'd suspect some sort of delivery problem. No expert status here, just a user.

On our 2010 Damon Astoria, there are 2 switches for the water heater. 1 for gas and 1 for electricity. When we turn either or both on the switch lights up continuously and the water heater works just fine. I suspect that yours may be the same. It is not a "fault" light but a lighted switch to let you know that it is on.

On the refrigerator, ours works some times while we are traveling. When we stop we reset it but it will usually go out again when travelling at highway speeds. If you have an Atwood Water Heater.
The fault light will come on when calling for heat , for a few seconds and then go OFF when it ignites and lights. The w/h has a 3 start board. It will attempt to light 3 times in about 3 minutes. If it does not light and stay lit, it will lock out and show the fault light.
If Suburban Water Heater, the fault will come on for about 10 seconds and while it is trying to light the fault light will go out. If it does not light the fault light comes back on and it will do this 3 time. IF it does not light on the 3rd try the fault light comes on and stays on. There is no fault light on 120 on Suburban water heaters. Doug
