Winter Storage for Battery

Storing my TT for the winter, should I leave it plugged into shore power to keep the battery charged with the converter or should I disconnect the battery and connect my Battery Minder to keep it charged?
Thanks for your advise. Skip

Your battery tender may be better than most converters.

But we will not know unless the OP tells us what converter.
  • As hershey said, a good fully charged battery will retain it's charge in cold weather. It's actually hot weather that drains a battery but they're capable of putting out more current in warm temps vs cold. Charge and leave it disconnected or put a battery minder on it.
  • Mine stays plugged in 24/7 when home. No special charger, just the factory one. Battery still good on my '05 5er, just add a little water every spring.
  • I still have my 2006 battery running strong with a small line hooked up to solar on the roof. Never had to touch it all these years but I do think I will replace it soon just out of age and to be safe.
  • I have no idea because I have no idea what converter you have. There are lots of brands and lots of models, tell us what you've got.
  • I would remove it and use the trickle charger. Cheap operation and will be more than adequate to keep it charged.
Actually, a good battery, fully charged will keep its charge for months at a time with little loss of amperage. My '57 Ford keeps it charge for 6 months at a time between starting. My golf cart (gas) battery keeps it charge for 8 months between use every year without the use of a charger.
