ricatic's well rehearsed rant would like you to believe that 100% of the 3% of the Ford HPFP problems were denied warranty. I have one of the so called 2011 POS and to date has been trouble free. The blue koolaid tastes pretty good and has been very satisfying. Thanks Ford, for a great truck.
Its not a rant. Another forum member here had the same HPFP problem as Ricatic.
Ford WAS going to deny warranty on his vehicle. However, they then discovered, through their own service records, that they had just recently changed both fuel filters on the vehicle.
So Ford did warranty that failure. But only because they were backed into their own corner by their own service records.
Oh, and have you had a HPFP failure with yours????? If its trouble free, as mine has so far been, then no experience to talk about.
And, the story I related was from a direct, private message, to the forum member involved.
In other words, right from the horses mouth. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

Hey they all feel the same as you. "I got a good one" until..............
Then they just go buy another one! - ricaticExplorerWhat rant...just a stating of the facts...and where did I say that every Ford HPFP failure was not warrantied...what I said is that GM has fixed 100% of their HPFP failures under warranty...
The rest of the Blue Koolaid Kings will certainly show up soon...

Oddly enough... Gonna go drive a few rams this weekend... If I'm gonna go into hock... Might as well be a truck I can run into the ground
Do not let disparaging comments about the Ram, especially after the 2013 DEF equipped trucks were introduced influence your decision. Many potential Ram owners were swayed to other brands because the pre 2013 Ram's did not have a DEF and their fuel mileage was sub par...
This all changed when Ram added DEF and fuel mileage became competitive...their trucks were already top of the line in interior space and comfort...and as a bonus, the Cummins engine does not use the frail and delicate(that's what Porsche called the same model pump they use in their diesel Cayenne)Bosch CP4.xx HPFP...now beware...the Blue Koolaid guys will likely post Ram breakdowns with the tried and true Bosch CP3 pump...it happens...it is almost always warrantied without a fight and is not a $10,000 repair...
Good Luck in your search

Agreed... It'll be interesting what your conclusion will be. I did they same thing in '12 and chose a Super Duty Lariat.
My truck is a little over 2 years old now with ~48k miles and it's the best truck I've owned to date. Pulls like a train and makes great fuel economy to boot. :B- Cummins12V98Explorer III

Let us know what you think.
I know when I first test drove my RAM I was blown away with the overall quality, style and performance. I still am. - bigcitypopoExplorerOddly enough... Gonna go drive a few rams this weekend... If I'm gonna go into hock... Might as well be a truck I can run into the ground
- ricaticExplorerGood choice of passing on the 2011 6.7Ford...I had one...it was a bigger POS than the 6.0 Ford I traded in...my story is well documented...and my HPFP failure repair cost was $10,300.00...keep in mind as you contemplate buying any 6.7 Ford, they use a fragile HPFP that can and will grenade itself at times...and warranty from Ford on HPFP's is difficult to obtain...ask me how I know...
The Blue Koolaid Crowd will be along shortly to try to defend Ford's reprehensible behavior...some will even question my integrity...the Blue Koolaid is strong...beware...
GM uses the same HPFP on their 2011 and newer Duramax diesel but they warranty all HPFP failures, no argument or attempt to screw the customer...and then there is Ram...a solid performer with an excellent reputation...

The only way I'd buy a late model diesel is new with it's 100k mile warranty intact and keep it bone stock, maintained by the book preferably by the dealer. No gimmicks, no unapproved additives and no aftermarket condensation prone fuel tanks.
I do my own oil changes so that the correct oil in the correct amount is used unlike what the dealer does. You would hate my tank but I haven't seen any water yet. The unapproved fuel additive hasn't destroyed anything yet.
