- NC_HaulerExplorerI re-read my post and did an edit, but it should have read, I tow as fast as I care to tow my 5er and merely meant that I may hit 65 mph on occasion in a 70 mph speed zone, but normally tow between 55-62 mph, I tend to get my best mpg at those speeds...(interstate speed limits where I tow run from 50 mph, {I26 from TN into NC}, to max of 70 mph).
Just wanted to clarify:) I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere at this time. - mpierceExplorer

What about the test where Ford had to really dig and put an F450 up against the 3500? Doesn't seem fair, but if that's what had to be done to compete...I fully understand...The "bottom of the barrell", always 3rd. place Ram puts out a truck with a medium duty diesel engine, a medium duty transmission, GVWR that is pretty doggone good, a GCWR that has left the competition in the dust, all new suspension and frame, all wrapped into a great looking truck with an awesome interior...Guess Ram truck owners should have figured when all this came about for these trucks that Rams "moment in the sun", would be short lived and highly maligned...
I've got over 17,500 trouble free miles on this truck, tows my 5er, loaded to 16,200# all through the mountains, pretty much, effortlessly. Truly impressed with it's power and handling...zero issues, no problems and is one great looking truck. It will run as fast as I can to tow all day....it's my daily driver and it's a very good truck, and to me, that's all that matters:)
Exactly right. I have a RAM 14 dually, 3.73 Longhorn. It is AWESOME. I pull a toy hauler, gross out at a little over 28k, and it handles it great. Amazing power climbing hills! Beautiful interior.
Not knocking other brands, but anyone who says RAM puts out an inferior truck, knows not what they are talking about.
Big three are all putting out pickups that are awesome towing machines. To try to compare, to see which ones is slightly ahead on some mythical hill, means nothing to me. They all pull so good, that that is waaaaay down on my priority list now. - NC_HaulerExplorerWhat about the test where Ford had to really dig and put an F450 up against the 3500? They only show that the RAM had 4.10 gears, which are the best tow gears. This is a marketing video, not a third party comparison.

Was the 13 the Aisin or 68RFE like Ford was comparing their 2015 to?
Says 850 torque, so Aisin! Chris
Thanks for the correction!
Am I correct the canned Ford test was against the 68RFE?
Nope it was the Aisin... In addition in the video it states the Ford is compared to the best pulling packages the competition has to offer.

Ike Gauntlet with 17,000 lbs.
I am confused! Perhaps someone can explain.
In 2013 with the 6.7 Cummins 850 ft lb engine takes longer to do the Ike Gauntlet with a 17,000 lb trailer than it did in 2014 with a 19,000 lb trailer?
What gears did the 2013 have? I looked and listened, and missed it if it is noted. Day to day weather would also have an effect. Chris
While the hardware may have been the same, there have been numerous updates for the engine and transmission between the beginning of '03 and the current '04's.
Like Chris stated, you must have meant 13' and 14' models and they are identical...nothing changed between a 2013 and a 2014 3500 dually...unless that particular 14' actually had rear air suspension.
I don't know what gearing the 13 had, still trying to find out... - Me_AgainExplorer III

Maybe you meant 13 and 14?
The 385/850 in 2013 is the same as the 385/850 in 2014. Gear ratio's could have been different, but the rest is the same. Aisin tranny is required to get the 385/850.
