I wonder if you will clear up something that I think about each time I see one of your posts?
When the "Drumbeat or Drumroll" thread or whatever it was called so way back when it first started, I was a very early poster trying to assure you that Ford would do the right thing. The way I understand how things went down, it was truly a "dealership" problem and Ford took their side instead of the truth? Or something like that..
I think something weird really made Ford go on the "The doors shut on this issue" tangent as I from both a customer and dealership employee viewpoint have always felt they were more than fair.
I understand you feel they were not in your case and tend to agree,
however in my mind your ongoing displeasure should be with the dealership who caused this but you probably can't do much to hurt them so I guess I can follow your logic to keep the heat on Ford.
Here is my question...
When you were in the heat of the situation and laying out your list of the bad things Ford had done to your "family" you mentioned that they had cancelled a Lincoln dealership owned by (I believe you said) your wifes family?
You had said they had 2 really good diesel techs and a few other things I can't recall.
**Is that situation partially causing your ongoing pressure to put down Ford? **
The reason I ask is I just can't understand caring on with this program over a "truck" that's out of your life now.
It just seems there must be more to it to me. :h
Just very curious so no reply needed if you feel its not warranted. - DirtyOilExplorer
Dirty Oil, show me where I have ever said Ford never took government money.
Whether you said or not, is not the point I was trying to make. Its the fact that not only did GM or Chrysler take bailouts/loans, but numerous Brand name American Co. ( FMC, Harley Davidson, MacDonald's...) point was to get off the Bail out train... Chrysler paid their debt back, GM is working on it (hopefully they do it soon) FMC still has outstanding loans.... it goes on and on.
A little trivia... (yes Chrysler took two bail outs) anyways... if not for the Dodge brothers, FMC may not have existed today. The Dodge brothers lent money to "ole" Henry to start up his production plant, he couldn't get financing anywhere else. Ford paid Dodge brothers with shares which they later sold off. So, if I were a Ford Fan, I would be thankful and perhaps buy a Dodge guy a beer and say "thanks brother".

Whether you publicly put yer hand out for "bailout cash" or sneaked in the back door (Ford) to grab tax payer money... its still takin money to stay alive... Can't figure out why... "blue cool-aid drinkers" pathologically deny Ford ever took government money, be it a bail out or back door deals.(ask the union works at ford if FMC ever put the money they took from the pension fund back into the workers pension fund?) They still took public/taxpayer dollars to keep their heads above the bankruptcy waters, like so many other American "great" companies....and foreign.
Dirty Oil, show me where I have ever said Ford never took government money. In our semi-socialist condition, a lot of going enterprises take government money for one thing or another, such as for such government-encouraged electric car research and etc and etc.
But it was Government Motors and Chrysler (twice) that were going belly-up without the taxpayer help. In fact, Chrysler was SAVED TWICE by US government bailouts and subsequently bought up by foreign firms, first Mercedes (who chewed them up and spit them out) and currently, by Fiat. We'll see how that goes.
And GM, well, they effectively robbed billions from their first mortgage bond holders along with just about every other stakeholder investing in or doing business with them, and to add insult to injury, those same folks had to contribute to GM's survival by supplying the tax dollars to keep them from disappearing completely.
And with this latest GM problem concerning their faulty ignition switches, they face great liabilities. In fact, Toyota was just fined a billion dollars by the US for a similar type of covered-up safety violations. GM hid the dangerous ignitions for over 10 years and continued producing them despite knowing they were endangering their customers and the general public. But I doubt the US Justice Department will push for such heavy fines against GM, because GM already owes the US billions from the bankruptcy save, which probably will never be paid off. We'd probably just have to give them another billion to pay the fine.
So, let the Bankruptcy Boys bunch up and attack the truth again. I've got my popcorn ready, but won't be providing any more information in this thread for them since it's a hopeless enterprise. - DirtyOilExplorer:o
