The dealer is required to pass to the customer any current incentives whether customer cash or dealer cash and are limited to the amount they can charge in DOC fees. These sales are audited at the dealership on a regular basis for the dealers who do a number of them.
While a dealer can sell a vehicle at any price they wish, they cannot sell a vehicle at true employee price and not lose money. Those who advertise selling at GM employee price normally do so by not passing on some incentives presently offered and are in violation in most states of "Truth in Advertising" laws. A number of dealers simply advertise "Employee Pricing" and if pushed purport that to be their own employee's prices. - DadoffourgirlsExplorer

If you are talking about the family discount, in order to get a the "family" discount the employee has to fill out a form and sign it. Then they are issued a "number". They can only get so many per year. It is when you fill out that form and sign it, certifying the person is a eligible "family" member where the losing your job part comes in. I'm guessing most people would feel their isn't enough in it for them to be worth the risk.
Looks to me that there would be no way to verify who gets the discount, .... I could be anyones nephew...
You are right. There are some audits done to determine family qualifications.
Now if I shared the discount, and lost my job, I am share DelawareCamper would take me in since I am family. I am guessing he would also pay to send my daughters to college. All for $3500. - DelawareCamperExplorerjust belonging to USAA is saving us another $750
- jalichtyExplorerConsumers Report and AARP both have vehicle buying programs that promise good deals. In my case, I took a look at both places and there were no places close to me, within 300 miles that participated in the programs so they were pretty useless to me. If you are in the vicinity where dealers participate in the program, it might be worthwhile to take a look, at least for comparison purposes.
- JTracExplorerIt has been a year but I bought mine thru the credit union discount program which wound up being about $400 below invoice. You have to be a member of a credit union to get it.
- DelawareCamperExplorerits really not a big deal,, the employee discount is approx $3500,,, if they want to sell the $65000 truck (sticker) they will come down from our best deal..
I actually have a 2011 dually LTZ loaded with only 19k miles on it... I have no problem keeping it,, they are just giving me a hell of a trade price,,, at least I think so,,, - wing_zealotExplorerdelete - hit the wrong button
