Didn't Caddy actually call it the "V8-6-4"? Great concept waaaaaaay ahead of it's time and proved to be a bomb back then. Same w/ their HT4100 motor dubbed "Hook & Tow". We actually had a 1980 something Sedan DeVille w/ the HT4100. Thing was a dog and VERY underpowered. But she did get 25 mpg. Then bought a used '86 Lincoln Town Car which put the Caddy to shame all the way around.
