- PAThwackerExplorerNewer subs in k2500 07 to 12 have max hitch capacity of 1000lbs. Eliminating the many polo team's monster bunkhouse options. Many variables at play why many campers are designed for max 4 people. Heck some don't have the water, wards, or ccc for a family of 4!
- DadoffourgirlsExplorerI am not sure why you do not want a van. I just moved to a Chevrolet Express. It was a 2014, used as a rental. It was incorrectly noted that they came standard with the 6.0. It does come with a 4.8 V8. I bought mine Certified Pre Owned, so I have a 12 month/12k mile bumper to bumper warranty. I paid $175 to have a RV place wire the van for 7-way plug. The regular length parks better than the Silverado did, and is easier backing my trailer. Not towing, I am getting 17-18 mpg on highway.
- PowerdudeExplorerWell, you didn't say what your budget was, and you don't want a van.
Given an unlimited budget, and not wanting a van, there are always options. :)
Such as this.
Note: I am not affiliated with the above company at all. - TystevensExplorerSeinfeld said it best ... some are just "van guys," some are not! Put me in the not category (and my wife is definitely not ... she'd rather never camp again than have to drive a van!). No big deal.
- apr67ExplorerIt is hard to beat a Van. I just picked up a used 2014 Chevy Express 3/4 ton van (3500) with the 6l engine. Max tow is 9600 or something, seats 12 and I am going to pull a seat out and reduce it to 9. Thing is a rental and still has 14k miles and 1.5 years of bumper to bumper warranty and was less than 23k.
I can't find anything else in that price range.
Beware when looking, many big vans that come off rental or fleet use a small motor and can't tow much. - apr67Explorer

Why don't you like vans? A 6.0L Chevy Express is exactly what you need and probably reasonably priced. Be sure to get one with the trailer wiring already in place as it can be a pain for a full 7-way set up.
Its not too bad, but it did take me 12hours to do everything including the hitch on mine. However that was done right, with lables, cable ties, circuit breakers, and stuff all working the first time. Plus I was slowed down by summer heat that made it feel like tatooine. - CatonsvilleFredExplorerOur Family has the 2015 Nissan NV Passenger Van (SL). It is a 12 passenger vehicle and will pull 8700 lbs. with the seats + a driver. Passengers reduce your towing capacity but you can remove the four rear seats in your situation. The NV is big, but as your kids grow, a minivan probably just isn't going to cut it. The NV is big and brutish but it is REALLY nice inside. The SL has leather seats, a decent technology package with great phone integration, backup camera, etc.
I know you said you aren't interested in vans. The NV is more of a truck-conversion (it is built on the Titan platform). - CatonsvilleFredExplorerAlso - just wanted to add, that a van like the Fords, Chevy's and Nissan NV are going to be a lot cheaper than SUVs... As your kids grow you may also want to upgrade your trailer - so it might be worth looking into options for towing more weight. Just some thoughts.
- Dream_GirlExplorerThank you all!
So here is where I am at right now,
My dad insist to go camping with his own van anyway (he like to be independent) so no need for 7 seater anymore.
at the moment I am thinking about a good F150 or similar that has 6 seats with good towing capacity... we will see.
Thanks again for all the good posts!!! - FrostbitteExplorer

Can you please recommend me a good 7-8 seat tow Vehicle with towing capacity over 6000lb?
Thanks.
Dodge Durango with the 5.7 Hemi. It has a tow capacity of 7400 lbs. Other than that, maybe a van?
