A Frames when you leave to go shopping etc....

Except for a few things like i-pods, phones, cash etc. just what is in a PUP or even a TT that is worth steeling? They have the worlds cheapest everything and it is usually bult in.

Even my TT has a cheap television and DVD built in; which even I have not figured how to remove.

What’s to take?

Interesting replies. I have been camping in tents and popups for nearly 40 years. I have camped in all kinds of environments form secluded to urban campgrounds. I have only had something stolen twice. Once in Torondo Canada the neighborhood kids took luncheon meat out of a cooler left outside the camper door in the middle of the night.
I always lock up before I go away from the campground and hind from view things like electronics. I don't usually leave things sitting out that I think might be attractive to a thief. That said I have seen plenty of campsites where the people leave everything outside that they bring with them.

So how common is thief in campgrounds? What have other people experienced?

I lock mine when leaving camp. But before I had the A Frame, I had a Coleman tent trailer without a lock and never had anything stolen from inside. Locks are there to keep the casual, opportunistic thief out. The kind that think that if something isn't locked the owner doesn't care. That is what you are most likely to run into at a camp ground.

No camper will keep the desperate or intent thief out, so don't give them any reason to believe there is something to gain by breaking into your camper and the probability of trouble will be low.

No trailer is secure enough to prevent a large screwdriver or prybar opening every door and compartment.

An Aliner is as secure as any travel trailer which isn't saying much.

In campgrounds I often leave it unlocked. I do lock at retail areas, truck stops, rest areas, etc. I have no illusions though that those locks will stop someone that is willing to do damage and has a few minutes unobserved.

I just don't worry about it, that is what I have insurance for.

I'll just lock the door on mine. Nothing inside it worth stealing anyway. If I were paranoid I would fold it down and put locks on the side hasps, but I'm not. Heck, I even leave my portable solar panel out during the day while I'm gone sightseeing.

I am going to buy something..... just trying to decide between the Aliner and the Chalet. I like them both but i really REALLY love that front and back dormer on the Aliners. ... at this time i am undecided on which one.

SO ... in the mean time..... since i know nothing..... i am asking questions.

and i do usually take my valuables with me when i am traveling.... never leave anything behind but.... i will have to leave the TV and stuff... if i am parked for a while. not going to lug that around lol

Just lock it and don't worry. Aframes aren't that easy to break into, esp. with plexiglass windows. Be sure you have a good hitch lock. I would never leave my computer and cash etc., take it with you, and that way you won't worry about your trailer being robbed, you can instead worry about your car being robbed. :0

I just lock the door, put up any valuables. As a deterrant, I put the coupler lock on upon arrival and set up.

I've only had instance of theft and that was at a dog show, someone came in the middle of the night and stole my EZ Up canopy side panels and were in process of taking my canopy when something spooked them. The thieves had already pulled the stakes and dropped the canopy corners. They did steal my friend's EZ Up canopy (we both use commercial grade). She also has an A-Frame, same model as mine & was set up right next to me. This was her first time to be robbed while using it. Of all things, I'd never have figured someone would come in the dead of night, in a heavy rainstorm and steal a canopy. Go figure.

We never do this with our TT but if you are worried about theft/damage how about `hiring' your camping neighbor(s) to keep an eye on things while you are gone, perhaps in return for something from the store; I'd sit in a lawn chair watching the rig all day for a chocolate donut...
