Can't believe you people are so scared to use your awnings. We have camped at Myrtle beach for the last 16 years. Our awning goes out when we set up, and comes down when we pack up to come home. Often I carport it, which means I take the legs down, and put them on the ground, and I tie it down. We have only taken it down once while there, and that was while the hurricane passed by.
In truth. You will be surprised at how much wind it will take.
Best thing, Tilt it into the wind, that will also allow rain to run off, and tie it down. Honestly, If I wasn't going to use it, I wouldn't have bought it.
You're kidding right! I've seen awnings get blown up and over a trailer! Even tied down. And I have seen fabric get ripped along the seem at the trailer.
Maybe if you were back in the trees you could leave it out, but by he open beach areas never!!!!
Nope. We always get a beach site. Never more that 3 sites off the beach. Front row if we can get it. Always get a site facing the beach. 90% of the wind is from the South, So I tilt the awning down the beach. I too have seen awnings ripped, but they were not tilted. and the rain settled on them, and the weight ripped them. Plus with the legs on the ground. It doesn't even jerk the TT when the wind blows.
16 years no problems. We live under the awning, (eat, Cook, nap, relax, read) at the beach. If we couldn't use the awning we wouldn't go.
