Not only First On Race Day, but also first in sales!
First on Race Day?
Unless I'm mistaken (I don't follow NASCAR), Chevrolet dominates NASCAR.

The numbers all seem very predictable, and very good overall. I just cannot figure out why the outdated Tacoma is outselling the modern Tundra, especially with low fuel prices. I also predict that the Colorado will overtake the Tacoma this year.
The Tacoma has been pretty much the leader in the small truck market for a long time with weak competition, so no surprise there, whereas the Tundra is still struggling to get a piece of the full size truck market where it has to compete with very strong competition. Plus the latest Tundra refresh didn't bring anything new in the drivetrain department.- goducks10Explorer

I, for one do not care which one is the best selling. JMHO.
x2. I want the most reliable.
Well when you come up with that, please let us all know :B
I'll let you know in a few more years if I got one. - shum02ExplorerFord has the Ranger available and IMHO is light enough on it's feet to introduce the Ranger with very little lead time.
Time will tell. Lots of people including myself loved their Rangers ;). I'd love to see it re-introduced. - MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerI also will take the least troublesome truck with high miles after she is PAID OFF !!
- OH48LtExplorerCompare the prices for a new Colorado with almost any "full size" truck. Not much difference in similarly equipped trucks. GM is doing a good job filling that small niche, let them have it.
A friend of mine has a 5-cylinder 2012 Colorado with over 200,000 miles on it. No issues other than normal maintenance items, and it looks and runs great. - BedlamModeratorI thought the car based trucks like the VW pickup or Subaru Brat/Baja would be a success, but none of them had sales that took off.

If the trend continues look for Ford to re-introduce the "World" Ranger to North America. The Ranger was biting into the very lucrative F150 sales.
The Ranger was discontinued 4 years ago. The F150 has been the number one seller in the US for 38 years. Ford made very few changes to the Ranger over the years and let it die on the vine, and then claimed that the market dried up for smaller trucks. Meanwhile, the F150 was getting the latest updates every year, continually making it a fantastic truck. Ranger appealed to people like me who do not want or need a large pickup. There is a market for smaller pickups, and yes there is probably some overlap, but the market is certainly large enough for a modern smaller pickup without stealing away too many full size pickup sales. I'm glad GM decided to get back in the game. Ford and FCA should do the same.
While that is true we are not privy to the market research or business plan for any OEM unless we are way up the food chain. If Ford management decided that the data indicated they not go after this segment in the U.S. we are in no position to contradict this decision. - Fast_MoparExplorer
