The brands (Rotella, Motorcraft, Cononcco Phillips, Valvoline) I listed earlier in the 15W40 version did not reduce anti wear additives and in some cases these additive were increased.
For our trucks, the normal oil is 10W-30. 15W-40 is for temperatures above 20 degrees. I see temperatures below zero at times so there are few options left.
There's a lot of 5w 40 syn oils out there as well. OOD (obsessive oil disorder) can get the best of some though and they get lost in an oil debate when they could be out changing the oil in their vehicle....... - LynnmorExplorer

Am I missing something here? On the 5W-40 list, which is what the Rotella T6 is, I don't see the Mobile 1 or Amzoil oil there either?
Bill
What you and everyone else are missing is the fact that the diesel oil has been changed to make the government happy. Anti-wear additives, that have been used for years, are now reduced or eliminated. The new oil will cause more wear and companies like Ford have tested and found that many of the new oils are unacceptable.
The latest T6 is one that didn't pass the tests. Also, during the transition, there was some of the CK-4 T6 bottled with only the CJ-4 marking.
Regardless of what brand of diesel engine you have, the oil is now inferior to the previous version and more wear can be expected.

It's the DELO and Delvac with a CK4/SM API duel diesel and gas rating that you need to be cautious when using since these reduced zinc and phosphorous levels.- LynnmorExplorer

Hope you have already bought the CJ-4 Rotella. If it is in the new bottle it could be CK-4 that was labeled as CJ-4.
Huh, never even thought about it. I just recently changed oil in my '14 RAM 6.7 and used Rotella T6 5W40. I completely forgot about the the oil spec and didn't even think to look at the spec rating on the bottle.

Like Fish said, zddp is a good thing that will help with especially valvetrain wear.
But that said, cj ck, imo its more important to service the vehicle regularly than what you fill it up with.
Personal truck and car currently combined for close to 300k miles, have been running whatever 15-40 is on sale in them for a long time now. Neither burn oil, no blow by.
With the Cummins ,no worries CJ or CK . I follow the manual which is either 15K or 6 months, being no where near 15K between oil changes, no concern to me that Rotella has changed. - Grit_dogNavigatorLike Fish said, zddp is a good thing that will help with especially valvetrain wear.

Here is a list of Ford approved oil, the new CK-4 Rotella T6 oil is not on the list. This may be the first time that a change in the letters is a downgrade. Thank you government regulations.

Bill - brooks379ExplorerYesterday I changed the oil in my 2014 6.7 powerstroke and put in T-6 Rotella 5 w40 Full Synt. just like always and just looked at the bottle and it is CK-4 . I might just change to Motorcraft oil.....Probably made by Shell......

Just received from Amsoil my order of 5W40 Signature Series MaxDuty diesel oil. It happens to meet CK-4/CJ-4 specs. I checked the spec sheet, am I missing something?
Ford has been very vocal about the "wear" test that they've conducted on their Powerstroke engines with the new CK oil. Also, a major brand tractor trailer engine maker did the same, just can't recall at this moment. The engine parts tested had higher wear with the new oil versus any of the previous oils. The newer oil has a lower viscocity than previous ones which is causing the concern. Here is Shell's response to their oils Shell's Response
