With 1/2 ton frame/suspension and P rated tires, 1200 loaded tongue, I think you will find that trailer too much for your truck.
Congrats on the purchase.
i just did my due diligence and checked all the p's and q's. I have 9600 lb tow capacity, tongue weight of 1100 lbs with WD hitch. GCWR is 15,000 lbs. I go the code off the glovebox sticker and I'm running 3.42 gear ratio which for this truck gives me all the maxes. It's going to be a rough ride, but I think we'll be ok. I don;t tow like an idiot. I've always been super cautious. So it's going to be an adventure until we upgrade the TV.

YOU THINK YOU WILL BE OK! :S
You **** well better be sure you are OK, as your family's lives will be riding on your decision!
You will likely be over several of the 1500's ratings! GRAWR, Tire rating. The 9,600# tow capacity goes down with ever pound added to the TV!
Dry Hitch weight is 920# add propane and battery, you be at 1,000# dry!
:S
Time to be looking at a 2500 or 3500 SRW! - FerrisFamilyof5Explorer

Add the weight of your family, toys, and essential stuff plus the tongue weight of the TT, and you will likely be over the maximum cargo limit of your half ton.
A simple trip to the CAT scales with your trailer loaded for travel will give you the hard numbers.
Your TV has a certain cargo and axle limits.
As far as TT size is concerned, it is just a matter of practice.
Have fun. - TerryallanExplorer II

Nice looking trailer...
You are going to really like not having to deal with tent ends. We sure did when we made the switch.
Aside: The Eagle 314BHDS is a long and heavy model..(Dry Weight 8110 lbs. Dry Hitch Weight 1065lbs.)
Keep an eye on that if you are towing with your F150.
Congrats and enjoy.
I honestly didn't want to switch. but the DW gets cold very easy and I'm tired of the complaint. I love the tent end for the sounds. We were camping Columbus Day weekend and was awakened by 2 owls hooting. We just laid there listening. Our friends who were right next door, in their travel trailer never heard them. I'll bet my fill of tent camping as I go with both my boys on their boy scout campouts.
You won't go deaf just because you get a TT. You can still hear stuff. Especially with the windows open. We camped in pups for years before getting a TT. Only real difference. I don't get so wet when it rains - RoyBExplorer III too think you will not be happy using your 1/2-ton rated truck to pull that big of a trailer.
Please be careful and watch things very close... I definitely would keep on flat country for awhile until you see what is happening.
Roy ken - kknowltonExplorer IICongrats, and enjoy! You probably will end up with a different truck. We spent a good 6 years with our similarly-sized TT and a 1/2 ton. Still have the truck but downsized the TT last year. :) We also chose that big TT after a few years with a HTT.

Congrats on the purchase. - FerrisFamilyof5Exploreri'm at 9600 lbs towing capacity. I'm going to be close. I don't fill water tank, just added up family weight... I have about 600 lbs of wiggle room for gear. (that's starting with the dry weight). I already told the DW it's going to be tough. Won't be camping until May, so I have time to upgrade the tow vehicle if i have to. dry weight is 7710. I'm a bit nervous, but also excited. I know for a fact i will have a new tow vehicle in time for our trip to Myrtle Beach in april 2017.
- itguy08ExplorerCongratulations!
You'll get used to it. I went from never having towed to a 35' Open Range TT. Got used to it quick and only 1 minor 'oops'. Now I can back it LIKE A BOSS. :)
