- Bob__BExplorerToo bad the OP hasn't been able to get any real input on his question ..... There seems to be a LOT of resistance to the use of composting toilets .... Some of it for good reason and a lot of mere superstition.
I guess that is the answer....Not too many people using these things because most everybody else will think you are crazy.
Bill001 .....If you decide to go with one of these I would be interested in how it goes ..... You can PM me if you don't want to put up with all the flak. - NaioExplorer III'm so sorry, Wayne, I mistook you for the OP! Of course mods do get to set rules about posts :).
Again, terribly sorry. - Reddog1Explorer IINaio, it appears to me you are looking for a quarrel. That is disappointing.
You state, "You don't get to decide what people are allowed to write about." As the Moderator of the TC Forum, I have a lot of influence in editing or deleting what people post (write about) on this forum.
I do not see the " Option #3: Have you investigated switching to a composting toilet in your rig and decided not to? Why?" in the OP's post. I quoted the post, as you did.
I encourage you to review the Forum Rules and Policies.Note the first rule, "We reserve the right to remove any post at any time for any reason".
If you wish to take this further, I suggest you use a PM.

Hi,
Has anyone switch to the composting toilet? Is so, please expound on your experience with the conversion.
Thanks,
Bill
This is the topic, not anything else.
1 Has anyone switch to the composting toilet?
2 Is so, please expound on your experience with the conversion.
If you have not switched then why do you insist on posting on this thread?

You don't get to decide what people are allowed to write about.
Many of us are responding to Option #3: Have you investigated switching to a composting toilet in your rig and decided not to? Why? - Reddog1Explorer II

sleepy, I'm thinking this is off topic.

Actually it is what we are trying to make safe in our disposal systems. Time is a necessary componet to make our waste safe. You camper holds it safely... your margerita maka transfers it to a safe place for LONG term treatment
I hope you understand.... I have camped with you... I know that you are conciousis... leave nothing behind but you shadow and tire tracks. - Reddog1Explorer IIsleepy, I'm thinking this is off topic.
Wayne - sleepyExplorerI think this subject is very important...
just hiking the appalician trail or at a popular spot along a trail in the west.... there are places that there are so much toilet paper showing above the cat holes that it looks like brown and red streaked snow.... watch where you step... and OMG the smells are horriable. Many place ban how close we can tent camp to streams
I am sure that all of us would dispose of our waste in a responsible manner... and know what that is... and if we have the right method available.
We all know... Our human waste can cause major problems... just washing our hands is critical to keep from making others sick with Escherichia Coli when we handle their food.
Question: What is Escherichia coli, or E. coli?
Answer:... E. coli are common, normally benign intestinal bacteria found in humans and animals, and play an important role in digestive systems. There are many different kinds of the bacteria, and only small number of the kinds can make people sick. The strain identified as connected with the chicken salad outbreak recently at Cosco is known as O157-H7, and it produces produces a powerful toxin known as Shiga that can cause bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramps and in some cases death. The O157 bacteria is virulent and tough and only a few are needed to cause illness. It's also the most commonly known to cause food-borne illness outbreaks
That said... Federal officials say an estimated 48 million people get sick from eating contaminated food annually, with about 3,000 deaths and 125,000 hospitalizations, costing our economy $14.1 billion annually. The biggest E. coli outbreak this year has been linked to Chipotle stores, with 45 people sickened in six states, federal officials say. That outbreak was caused by a different kind of E. coli contamination than the one at Cosco.
Mother Earth News has a good article.... where the talk about allowing the problems and the good points. they call for the solids to be seasoned for a year before it is added to garden compost and the urine to be seasoned for a month before it is disposed of anywhere.
Just how long can a system in a truck camper hold the human waste before disposing of it?
Please think about the antibioics and other medicines we take... our municipal sewer plants have a world of trouble with them....
E Coli
any thoughts?

.... and they claim that there is NO odor .... less smelly than a standard RV toilet.
There is plenty of odor, but the 24 hour fan blows the odor outside. That may or may not be good enough in an RV.
I was wondering if you'd have a problem is you mistakenly vented it under your canopy ;)...... I was talking about odor IN the camper. - FreebirdFliesExplorerWayne/Mr Moderator:
As long as the responses dont get nasty, personal, or foul, I see the push/pull of opinions as entertainment, and sometimes informative.
Strong opinions don't bother me. A lot of us (including me) sometimes don't realize when our ignorance is showing, but that is how some of us learn....well, gives us a chance, anyway. Lol
