- bmanningExplorerI have to chuckle...
Everyone HATES CR until their brand of choice gets high marks; then it goes from "rag" to "unbiased source of information" faster than a chipped Cummins can go 0-60.
I think it even would apply to about 85% of the diehard bashers; if in 6 months CR put out that "the 2014 (Ram, GM, Ford) has proven to be off-the-charts in fit & finish and reliability" there'd be lots of chest-thumping going on with a sudden lack of "what a rag!" commentary. - pappcamExplorer

We all know how much Mark loves his GM products but as most have said here, making a truck buying decision based on CR would probably not be too smart.
But you could go by the test drive results on front page of Pickuptrucks.dot.com, the new 2014 GM products beat by both Ram and Ford.
Maybe we shouldn't go by them guys either? :W
Just buy what we like and quit trying to run down the product we don't buy.. :B
That last statement should be the one we all adhere to but some people are blinded by something other than reason and common sense when it comes to certain things. - mayo30Explorer

These lists have been less then helpful for a few years now ,they are all very good and comparable.
The difference from best to worst is infinitesimal statistically
X2. IMHO, reliability across the board is so good, I wouldn't worry about these ratings when buying new. - DadoffourgirlsExplorer

...In the report they mentioned some brands that scored high in reliability but were low scorers in some crash test areas. They did not want to rank any manufacturer high in reliability if they did poorly in the safety tests. This sounds too political for me so, like many others, I always take these findings with a grain of salt.
Yes, they did not want to say that the "Camry, is a very reliable car if you survive an off-set front crash, which this vehicle gets a poor rating". - aftermathExplorer IIIAs I understand it, CR did not "test" any cars/trucks in this last report. They went by the feedback provided by consumers and their report listed brands, not individual models. They compiled over a million replies to come up with their findings.

The wife's a proud GM owner of a new Traverse. We've owned Toyotas, Infinitis, etc, etc, for many years and when she went shopping for a new SUV, she compared it against the new Highlander. No comparison; the Traverse has much better fit and finish, nicer interior, more interior room, better third row seating, quieter, more horsepower, better mpg, better warranty and so on. It blew the new redesigned Highlander away. GM's doing some good things.
Please report back in these pages when the Traverse has 100K on the clock, and compare repair history with Toyota -- Highlander, 4Runner, what have you. IMHO, it will be no contest -- the Toyota will have been, and will be beyond 100K, much more reliable. I know someone with almost 450K on a 4Runner, the drive train has never been apart, and it still runs good and reliably every day.
That could be true. I've owned many Toyota products BTW, including the Tundra in my sig. But IMO, nobody makes an unreliable vehicle anymore in the major market segments like pickup, 4 door family sedan, SUV's etc. - crcrExplorer
