- wmosesExplorerThis is indeed one strange thread. :D
Looking at these payload I am glad for my ~1500# rating. As for that ~20 mpg pulling 7000# - that must have been a flat load and not one with the same projected frontal area of an RV. Puling a 7000#, my money says it will get less than 10 mpg. - travelnutzExplorer IIMark, that's the MPG's going downhill! It's up hill that hurts!
- travelnutzExplorer IIYup! Mom, Pop, two 100 lb kids, the hitch, a few tools or one small bundle of fire wood and you'd still have capacity for a 3500 lb axle weight trailer with 15% tongue weight of 525 lbs. Very exciting! Maybe you should just leave your TT at home in the driveway and use the very expensive Ram little kazoo to go buy a couple bags of groceries and bring them back to your driveway campsite! Less fuel and the campsite is free. Problem solved!
- MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerAlmost 20 mpg towing 7000 pounds!!! That sounds like a bunch of bull !! better check that again.
- BC_ExplorerExplorerMy 2012 Ram Quad Cab with the Hemi only has a 1100 lb payload.
That same truck and trim/package level in a 2014 ram with the eco-diesel would have less payload and has a MRSP of 51,000.00
Today I priced out a 2014 F350 with as close as I could get in equivalent trim level and with the 6.2L engine. The cost on this truck is $50,000.00.
Makes me want to trade my Ram in for the F350...
Note: The above prices are in Canadian prices and I would not ever pay MSRP... - YnotTurboExplorerDiesel Power magazine did a test and it shows the payload of the new diesel 1500 at 1140 lbs. with the air ride suspension. Can't beat the 28 MPG too. They tested it towing a 7000 lb. trailer and got 19.97 MPG....
- tragusa3ExplorerWhen I made my decision this past December, I was concerned that it was too soon and I should wait to see this Dodge hit the market. Glad I didn't wait.
- hmknightncExplorerWhat the heck are your people talking about???!!!!. 1/2 ton truck with 1,200# payload and 8,000# towing give or take. Sounds like a manufacture is finally giving an actual realistic rating. If your towing over 8,000# or hauling more than 1.200# you need something bigger than a 1/2 ton (or 1500 series today). (I'm not the weight police BTW, routinely tow 18k# with an '06 Dually). 1/2 ton trucks are quite capable today but if you are going to be carrying around over 1,200# or towing more than 8,000# get a piece of equipment built to do that (Brand Choice is yours).
- 301TBSExplorerMaybe the have started using the J2807 standards?
- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIYEAH........low payload but it's got a diesel
