That doesn't make much sense. The diesel engine only weighs about 1000 lbs and both diesel and gas use the same transmission.

The weight you are listing is the weight of the "core" engine. The difference is the weight of all of the "other stuff" that goes along with the engine. For example, two batteries instead of one, DEF tank and weight of DEF fluid, different radiator, different exhaust system ..... About the only system they do share is the transmission.
