Correct me if I am wrong, but I would assume that from the same manufacturer a 6,000lb "entry level" and a 6,000lb "high end" will have the same lower frame and axle components. The "high end" nature of the build will be from the floor up. And frankly, when I step into a higher end model I see all fluff for way too much money, but that's just me. Sure, better materials, but not equivalent to the cost increase.
In my opinion, exterior preventative maintenance to ensure that any water stays on the outside is probably priority #1 when it comes to longevity. On the inside, fix things when they break before they do more damage and you will be all set.
