I think how you care for your unit is also going to play into it when considering all the responses you have received. If you are looking to invest time and energy into preventative maintenance, care and upkeep, you will be good with most.
If it is not treated right, a well "built" unit is going to have issues as badly or worse than a lesser "built" unit.
