I don't think the OP was talking about slideouts but if the camper would slide out the back of the truck bed and land on the ground.
I wondered what enblethen was talking about... - path1ExplorerDon't know the full story but keep your eyes peeled, maybe you can find one driving around some day.
- HMS_BeagleExplorerThe proper way to attempt this is to go up a steep incline while traveling over some good sized bumps. The bumps will unload the weight and allow it to move. There was a Youtube video awhile back in which the camper was unloaded by backing up and slamming on the brakes several times. Can't seem to find the link.
It is much easier to remove your camper using the jacks. - Dave_PeteExplorer II

To OP I have never seen or heard of it but I'm sure it has happened some time or some place. I know I have seen pictures where the camper came off the bed of the truck but it was because of the truck trying to go under a low under pass and it hit the camper and pushed it out the back. One such location is an underpass in Billings, MT. It has had its share of trucks and RVs hit it.
Low underpass
They must have thought that huge 8' clearance sign meant length. ;) - Reddog1Explorer IIA fellow told me he had a TC slide out the back of a truck. His story was the truck had a plastic liner, the TC had no tie downs. He said he was delivering it for a friend. Supposedly, he had to go up a real steep driveway or road, which had a dip at the bottom. He said he accelerated real heavy just as the front of the truck started up. At that point, the back wheels hit the dip, bounced up and down and the TC slid off the truck. He said there was only very minor damage to the TC and none to the truck.
- 32_ChevExplorerI saw one blow out on level ground at highway speeds.
- Kayteg1Explorer IIWhen I was shopping around for TC about 3 years ago, I had a chance to buy about 3 of them damaged by coming off the truck. I remember one seller admit he lost camper at highway speeds.
I have degree in mechanics and don't think the common ties are really strong, especially for camper like mine that can exceed 5000 lb, but then unless you have plastic bedliner, what is slippery the camper sits on the bed with friction pretty well. Air drag alone is not going to lift it.
Still seeing how campers can bounce on beds, I wonder if the ties don't drop occasionally from short hooks. - Steve_in_29Explorer

Was exploring the Branson area and at some of the parking lots and at even some of the stoplights it's a steep climb from the lights. Has anyone ever heard or saw a truck camper tear the tie downs and slide off the back?
Not sure if serious. :? - Butch50Explorer
