That dial selector for the transmission was a bad idea from the start. But, give an idiot a rubber mallet, and I bet he'd find a way to break and anvil.
Too bad it is not the dial selector being recalled. It is the ZF T selector, some people are not smart enough to look at the read out on the dash to see what gear they are or are not in. It's much earlier nowadays to blame the manufacturers for your own actions then it is to take responsibility for them.
But it does give the weak minded people something to talk about. Oh BTW Nutz how many vehicles has GM recalled? Oups I didn't go there did I? LMAO.

The affected vehicles are the 300, Charger, Durango and Grand Cherokee all with the ZF 8 speed and ZF T handle floor shifter.
Don,
I think the point is with a conventional shifting mechanism I typically shift into Reverse and Drive without even looking at the display when driving both my truck and my wife's Edge. With the notches in the shift points you can feel your way as you shift as a source for feedback. Sometimes simple is dependable goes along ways.
Case in point when my wife was shopping for a new vehicle about a year ago, she originally wanted a Jeep Grand Cherokee but it was the shifter that was the show stopper for her during a test drive. Now my wife is not mechanically inclined by any stretch of the imagination, but for her it was a major problem. For me it was different that I thought was not a good design, but I could live with it.
