I have felt this for years.

Guess the Blue Oval can then have Mercury's sales numbers added to up

Again, really don't care what others drive...just that what I own has
enough sales to keep my parts availability and pricing going
To your point. F series, 679496. All GM (chevy, and GMC) 660315. So yep they gained, but didn't catch. - TargaExplorerHook, line and sinker. And the op sits behind his screen laughing his head off.
- goducks10ExplorerYou have to be pretty insecure to think your trucks better because more people bought it.

X2, and what the article doesn't point out, is if you want a bigger motor, like the 6.4 hemi, Chevy is out. Other mfgs offer things that aren't available from GM so that is a consideration. I like the new Chevys but will look at the Ram 6.4 Hemi when I retire the Tundra. - MPondExplorerI've never understood the blanket disdain for the 20" wheels on this site...
I'm the type to use my trucks - tow several trailers from 5-15K lbs, use my trucks off road and on road, and have never had any issues with 20" wheels. I buy quality wheels, not the cheap ones that break easily, so that may be part of the issue others have experienced - not sure... But my 2500 Suburban with 20" wheels and All-Terrain, load range D tires worked well both towing and off road.
As for brand loyalty - I have my preferences, but that's only because my tastes align better with one particular brand. I would never expect anyone else to follow my reasons. They need to be happy with their own decisions. - Majja13Explorer

I do care that enough of 'my' model sells so that I'll have a parts supply for
decades and at the prices that goes with volume
Personal preference:
The new trucks are ridiculously expensive and too tall for no good reason other
than to appease the fashion statement crowd
The highly desired OEM 20's were laughable a decade ago as low rider stuff. Is
dangle balls around the corner?
I like my trucks to look like trucks, IMHO, but the younger crowd drives the
above fashion statement stuff... :(

I agree with the 20's comment. If it is a strictly pavement pounder I have seen some with 20's that look good but very few (and I am not talking lifted) but really 20's for any off road use and you are replacing wheels. Give me 17's or 16's all day long for real use. - BedlamModeratorWe forgot to add Lincoln and Cadillac to the sales figures...
People get all worked or excited about these sales numbers - Maybe they own stock? For me, it is interesting to see what others buy and why. Sometimes those choices align with my needs and other times I buy something different. I've never been a brand guy and would be preferred to be called "the best fit for me guy". - v10superdutyExplorer

I'm loyal...but not blindly to anything...
This sums it up for me too Ben.
Since I started work at the Ford dealer back in fall of 1967 and retired a year ago from same Ford dealer, I have some loyalties.
I also know a lot of the really cr^p stuff Ford did also.
Because I had 2 detours away from Ford over my years I also bought a new Pontiac and 2 new Hondas over the years.
I really try to not come on here and knock anyones ride, but when I see someone knocking Ford (with bad info or facts or understanding IMO) I get this overwhelming urge to explain...:W
When they (Ford) have it coming I will not defend or even comment in most instances.
I have a unique perspective in that the owner of Ford store used to have GM dealership in our town but GM downsized to a single dealer. So he bought GM full line dealership 2 hrs away. Several of his ex GM-local guys ended up at Ford store before he bought it about 5 years ago. So I have the inside GM stuff old and current.
Also the general manager of Ford store was service manager at local Dodge-Jeep for over 10 years so I know a lot of that dirt to... :W
But I don't think you will find I use that info to attack the other brands at all.
Enjoy your ride folks, speak well of it, engage in the casual fun discussions.
But no need to get upset, angry, or confrontational over a ...truck? - wintersunExplorer IITo me the good news is that at least with the 1/2 ton pickups the manufacturers are finally focusing on improving MPG instead of 0-60 MPH drag times and other meaningless stats. Wish this was true with the 2500/3500 class trucks where MPG is largely ignored and the media make a big deal out of towing capacities that are seldom of any importance or an increase of 20 more horsepower so that one manufacturer is "top dog" for a year until the competition bumps the power by 25 HP.
