- Me_AgainExplorer IIIThe problem I see is kicking tires on the dealers lot. One does not know which tires to kick, therefore you have to enlist a sales person, who may or may not know the there are 2500HD and 3500 SRW trucks. And ask stupid questions like why do you want a 3500, I have all these 2500HD according to my inventory sheet. Chris

I am pretty sure that the reason for that is the SRWs have some equipment that the DRWs do not.austingta wrote:
Does that picture really say that the DRW is less expensive than the SRW? That's crazy.
Wow, it does. That is weird. I took the screen shot myself from http://www.gmc.com/previous-year/sierra-3500-denali-hd-pickup-truck/build-and-price.html#/config.
I know for a fact that was the case when I bought mine.
The dually has 6 skinny 17" tires as opposed to 4 wider more expensive 20 inch tires. The 20" Denali alloy rims are more expensive than the 6 steel rims. The dually has a little more spring over the rear axle and but other than that I think the trucks are identical. When I bought my Ford SRW I could have saved a few pennies had I got an otherwise identical dualy. - HuntindogExplorer

- goducks10ExplorerAlthough I have a Ram, I debadged my 2500 and added airbags so I could have a 3500. So far it's worked.
- SouthpawHDExplorerWow! Nearly 3 full pages in 2 hours all to discuss truck badges. For sure the doldrums of winter have set in.

Am I missing something???? How does one tell if a new GM pickup is a 2500HD or a 3500 SRW??
Or is it that so many people towed over the limits with 2500HD they just removed the badges?
Am I not looking at the right place on these vehicles?
Chris
Unless you're asking about Denali HDs, which I think all say "Denali HD" on them instead if "X500 HD", then you're looking at the wrong vehicles. A lot of people, myself included, debadge so that fewer questions are asked.
Wouldn't your HD2500 badges help you? Or do you think some people might think you have a 1500 with that rig?
My bad Mike, jshupe said he took his off to get less questions. Not you
Never felt the need for that, never met any weight police in real life! Though mine were removed because I was having some custom ones made and was curious how easy they would be to get off (caution, they're a PITA to remove, don't bother!). - FireRobExplorer

Help with what exactly? The way I look at it, if you own one (either 2500 or 3500) then you know what you have. Who cares if anyone else knows.
Mike
I think we was referring to getting less questions like you said in the post prior. As in now more people will ask more questions because they can't tell what model truck you have. - n0arpExplorerI wish that these were all just Silverados or Sierras, with varying levels of trims. They're already doing this between 3500HD SRW and 3500HD DRW - they share the same moniker but have different specs on paper. 2500HDs are similar enough that they should combine the lines, truncate it to Silverado or Sierra HD, and let you buy the trim you want for the capacity you need. The whole 2500/ 3500 idea is dated.
