didn't ford go a portion of 2015 not shipping the new F150's?
They shut down both factories for the changeover, albeit staggered. Model availability was low for a good chunk of 2015, which is said to have affected sales #'s.
It doesn't look like the GM midsize truck twins stole any significant sales from the Silverado/GMC full size. I seem to remember an article saying that ~50% of the midsize trucks GM sold are conquest customers (coming from another brand) so that is a big deal and a big win for GM. Wonder if Ford is kicking themselves yet...
ford should be kicking themselves as they already have the midsized platform selling elsewhere, seems like they could come in and steal some of the Tacoma/Frontier/Canyon sales for themselves with the ROW Ranger. Add their 5 cylinder Diesel and V6 EB drivetrains and they would have a competitive package for sure.
They've been busy. But they'll get to it, and hopefully bring back the Bronco as well. I think they both would sell well. It is good to see truck sales doing well. Low fuel prices are surely helping.
Good driving/towing to all of you no matter what you drive :B - alexleblancExplorer

Ford will be bringing the Ranger back. Sounds like it will be Unibody, which will hit a different part of the market, but I think it is a good idea.
After this amount of time I was curious to see what impact the C&C would have on the Taco. It appears based on the overall numbers, Toyota is not certainly not cowering in fear. Next year when the new Taco is on the lots it may be even worse. I don't think it is possible to topple that pickup from its perch. - DadoffourgirlsExplorer

Why.can't some of you enjoying generally speaking increased sales numbers across the.boat. that is better than what was going in in 2008- 2012 or so.....

You are absolutely correct. It was the best year ever in US automotive sales. Sales were 17.4 million. It beat 2000 which was the record. It was 7 million better than 2009!
This is huge for the US economy. There are banks, insurance, auto accessories, etc that all benefit.
Ironically, all the hype was on Pickups, SUVs, and Crossovers. And I bought two cars:h - 1jeepExplorer IIBoshog....Hate to tell you I have been shopping 1 ton dually and they are all within a few thousand of each other, not sure how you got the perception that ford is that much more. Still to me they are slightly overpriced when I am looking at trucks in the $70k range, this includes a ram 3500 which has a tag of $72k and a f450 with $74k. Both dealers have had some substantial discounts.
Maybe by the time the spring gets here I will get over the price shock and actually make my purchase. - DadoffourgirlsExplorer

We bought a new 2015 Chevy Impala LT with the LFX V6 (305 hp) in Feb., 2015. It's the new style Impala with the German Opel designed Epsilon ll platform.
It's been a great car so far and touch wood...nothing has needed attention. We plan to do road trips in our retirement years and this car with it's power, comfort, size seems to more than fill the bill.
In the fall, we went through Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Lot's of miles and not so much as a hiccup from the Impala.
BTW, we tried out a bunch of domestics ...Ford Explorer and Chrysler's Jeep Cherokee, etc...all very nice and I would say you can't go wrong with either of these two vehicles.
In answer to Dodgeboy, having checked out/tested offerings from GM, Ford and Chrysler....I don't think you would make a mistake buying any of these company's products.
What fuel mileage did you get on your trip? What is your fuel mileage to date?
I drove an Impala for 6 months last year, and average 29 mpg for the 18k miles. I managed to get 32 mpg on a 1200 mile trip through Michigan. - boshogExplorer

What is surprising is that Ram went negative for sales in 2015 Dec over 2014 Dec. Would not have expected that.
I wouldn't be too concerned about the monthly change compared to last December, that can be a result of competitive incentives or weather, etc. What you want is year end growth compared to last year and the big three did that.
Ford had issues making enough aluminum body panels at the get-go and RAM's production is close to being maxed out. The UAW in Warren was kicking a while ago because Chrysler turned up the line speed, forgot the added number of trucks per hour. RAM is going to have a hard time showing growth next year unless they can steal sales or increase production.
Ford is still fighting the perceptions of the aluminum body panels and their huge MSRPs which they recently pulled back by offering $10K incentives.
Go GM, I have a ton of their stock. Wait, I own Chrysler and Ford stock too, go big three! - larry_barnhartExplorer

Yawn, who cares. Next report will favor Ford, then back to GM, then Ram will get a nudge...
Don't tell me who does the best when the vehicles are brand new. I want a report that details what the numbers look like for 5 year old truck in the 100K mile range. That would be something that's actually worthwhile to report on. They're all good when brand new.
Just a report on our old 05 duramax. We just had a 3700 mile trip to Washington st and back to Az. First time I have driven this truck solo on any long drive. It is still a new truck to me with 80,000 miles and drove like a race car . Happy as heck to have this truck but of course I will not test any new trucks of any brand. happy is good. Nice to see good numbers for everybody.

It is hard to believe that, because Ford had tremendous last quarter deals on the F150 with over $10,000.00 off to move excess inventory.
Driving by and visiting most of the dealers in my area showed me that there was so shortage of selection.
