- MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerGM downsized and had to get rid of a lot of dealerships. That was inevitable and behind them. Now they continue to move forward and like many who have forclosed , learn on what not to do, and keep a tighter grip on staying in green. Fact of life ! all huge companys will see financial problems at one time or another. ALL of the big three have had their moments.
- Speaking of all the GM haters, what about those GM dealerships that GM pulled the plug on them.
The Chevrolet dealership in my home town was in business for over 50 years and GM corperate pulled the plug on them. They then focused on selling Chrysler products, and after ~1 year GM gave them the Chevy franchise back, but I noticed that this dealership always stocks more RAM trucks than Chevy thereafter.
It's stupid acts like this that gives GM a black eye and adds more fuel to the fire! :M - Engineer9860ExplorerYup, exactly where I figured this thread was headed.
You guys can keep hating on GM, but the fact is you will still have to share the highways with them. - MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerGMs on top because of government purchases every month ??? Give me a break ! Just cant give this American auto company any credit can you !!? That's ok proofs in the owners who drop coin to buy !!

In case you all are wondering ?? GM sells the most autos in the USA than any other manufacturer. They must be doing something right !! and now they are even leaner and meaner ! I follow the stats from goodcarbadcar.org and month after month GM is the top seller. FACT !
It certainly helps that Obama has mandated that the federal government buys GM products whenever possible. Thats almost 750,000 vehicles just their... - bimbert84Explorer

The tier level is a subcontractual relationship, it doesn't really matter if the product goes straight to the line. If you supply something directly to GM, that's 1st tier. 3rd tier would mean you supply something to company B, who supplies something (even if it's the same exact thing) to company A, who supplies something to GM.Thought 3d level was the last one before the GM assembly line

Terryallan,
3rd tier? That means 2nd tier, 1st tier, and in house is ahead of you. I wouldn't do so much bragging if I were you! Each tier step down gets easier to replace and that you can take to the bank instead of a paycheck! May take a little while. Ever hear of being "Optimized"? All suppliers for all auto manufacturers are or can be subjected to it's tentacles and starting at the lowest tiers.
When it leaves us. It goes straight into the vehicle. Thought 3d level was the last one before the GM assembly line, Because that is what we are. You know. 1St tier is under 2nd tier, and 3 tier is on top of that. In other words. Next stop is the line. Only thing GM, Ford, BMW, Chrysler, Maserati, and others do, is bolt it in. IF for some reason we don't get it there in time. They shut down, and wait for it. Can't tell what it is. But without it. The vehicles don't move.
As I say. GM already TRIED to replace us. Couldn't do it. And in truth. Losing GM at this point is not a compan y, or business killer . They came back to us, we didn't chase them. Our future does not depend on GM. When they were told to do it inhouse, other customers raced to take their place. When you are the best at what you do. People naturally come to you. We are that good.
Now we are trying to find a way to fit them back in, along with more projects they want us to do.
But there is truth in what you say. Any one can be replaced. - travelnutzExplorer IITerryallan,
