- larry_barnhartExplorerWhen all 3 are selling this is a good thing for us. Hard to understand how folks can afford a new vehicle.

Good thing for Ford they are finally coming out with a new truck or in a few short years they too may end up behind RAM in the 3500/350 class.
LOL. That's if FCA is still around in a few short years. They put the most $$ on the hood, have the smallest margins, and the worst quality. All with no real technology to meet the upcoming CAFE #'s going forward. No electric, no hybrids, etc.
Sergio senses they are in dire financial shape and that's why he's pushing for consolidation. He's selling things off left and right. Magneti Marelli, Ferrari is going public, etc. You don't sell assets unless things are really bad. Just ask Ford.
True- can you say Ramarado - itguy08Explorer

I am told they will release when the updated Duramax comes on line in 2017. While GM is increasing their marketshare in the HD market, they need the heavier trucks to anchor their HD lineup. While they don't need the more powerful Duramax to handle the Ford or Ram on the street (we will see if that continues with the 900 ft Ram), they need it to win the war on the advertising front.
- LowRyterExplorerPerhaps Chevy would have greater fleet sales if they'd kept their light truck business? I would imagine a company would shop in one place.
Fleets are usually turned over at 100k miles, before the a lot 6.0 diesels were failing and rusting but putting up with poor quality Chevy maintenance items like door hinges.
It seems like the commercial market is Ford. It seems like the RV market is more chevy & Dodge. - mich800Explorer

Thats only 1/2 ton sales.
BUT, fleet and municipal make up a sizeable portion of Fords sales. When it comes to almost anything government or municipal the bottom line purchase price is the deciding factor, not overall reliability or value.
Ok, so Ford is on top because government makes stupid purchases? You would have thought they could have negotiated better deals when they owned the company. Fleet managers are too stupid to calculate total cost of ownership. I guess half ton purchasers are brilliant statisticians and not the ones getting gored by the bison in our national parks. - hone_eagleExplorer

Ford will never end up behind Ram because Ram does not have the production capacity.
They need to at least double the number of plants ..... or take over another facility from someone else. :-)
How many production facilities does Ford manufacture the F250/350/450/550 at?
How many facilities does FCA/Ram manufacture the Ram at?
Plants don't matter capacity does,so more plants or a bigger / expanded one either way they need to double the build and that costs over a billion.
That could be the reason Marrchione is talking merger -fasert cheaper then building your own. - 6_6_OilburnerExplorer

So would these be accurate staying with the food chain analogies?
Ford = McDonald
Ram = Quiznos
GM = Bennigans - mich800ExplorerBut when you add up Chevy and GMC...Never mind.
