A new follow up, and thank-you for your kind comments.
Wife contacted our insurance agent, and got a clear answer. Turns out, we've gone more than 5 years with no accidents, so our "vanishing" deductible, for $500 is ... well ... vanished! We have a zero deductible, plus accident forgiveness, which means the rates don't increase. (AllState). So we went ahead a put in a claim to get the fender fixed. I'm suppose to hear from the adjuster tomorrow for an appointment. I have not canceled the repair shop yet. They work with AllState all the time and they seem to think they will have the authorization for repair before Monday! So this is working out a bit better than expected.
There again, thanks everyone for your kind responses. You know, nothing like a good little fender bender to keep a person "humbled!"
