Hot Water Mixing Valve

I just bought a 2011 Keystone Larado 29ITG, Is there a hot water mixing valve on this camper?
My old camper has one, I could blend the hot and cold water so when you turned on the hot you would not get just straight hot water.
I would mix them and set the temp to 120-125 degrees.
  • all of my RVs operated in that manner. blending done at faucet
    bumpy
  • What you are referring to as a "mixing valve"is in fact the water heate winterising valve that is between the hot (red) and cold ( blue) water lines behind the heater.. I guess if you turned it 1/4 turn the cold will mix with the hot ....
  • Atwood Model XT have a 'mixing valve' located on backside of WH Tank.
Cold water connects to it and mixes with the very hot water coming out of WH .....preset at factory and sealed for 130*F output. Use a 160*F t-stat for heating control so 6 gal tank has the 'equivalent' of 10 gal (10 gal=16 gal)

All other Atwood models are 140*F output and you temper with cold at the end source (faucet/shower)----no mixing valve
    Same with Suburban Models

Thermal valves are readily availble at Home Depot, Lowes, ACE, Plumbing Supply etc.
A little PEX, some fittings YOU could install one on WH hot out and set output temp for desired temp.
Course the mixing valves are prone to clogging if water supply source is HARD and then you have to remove, clean or replace.
Biggest/common complaint with the Atwood XT Models that use the mixing valve

Atwood does have a Optional replacement 'adjustable' t-stat (110*F-150*F) #93105
Atwood also has an Optional 130*F t-stat #91470
Suburban also has an Optional 140*F (130*F Standard) #232317 for 120V AC electric and #232319 for 12V DC propane

Thank you for that explanation. I just bought an Airstream trailer with one of those and had no idea how or what it was. The brochure listed it as
    Airstream Brochure wrote:
    Electric/LP Water Heater (gal.) 6
Electric/LP Water Heater (Continuous Production) 9

like it had 2 separate water heaters.
