7. It runs on diesel. The Beast is believed to use a Duramax diesel engine closely related to that featured under the hood of Chevrolet and GMC's full-size heavy duty pickup trucks. Why diesel? Aside from the durability associated with diesel engines, the fuel has a low volatility that reduces the risk of it exploding - and it can be found everywhere in the world, unlike high quality unleaded fuel.

Interesting, didn't know that.
Also interesting, the coefficients used by the EPA for climate modeling have not been proven, here is hoping Trump staffs the EPA with scientist and engineers again. We do need to be good custodians of our environment.
I would not hold your breath on current administration to staff EPA better than it was... Major cuts. Hey who needs clean water and air anyways!!
Just because there are cuts in government size does not necessarily mean it would make it worse. If you have ever worked for any government agency, you would notice there is a lot of redundancy and convoluted bureaucratic processes that get in the way. If you asked why, then all you will get is "well that is just the way it's always been done". There is also a lot of the "good ole' boy" system where you are guaranteed a job even though you are a screw up and would have been fired at any other private company. The EPA is no different. Making the right cuts in the EPA may not be a bad thing.
Although, it is not like the EPA has been doing such a great job under the current administration....

Technology will triumph.
It better or we are hooped. There is no law that says the rest of the worlds population isn't allowed to consume hydrocarbons at the same rate as North Americans. We have no such entitlement. - thomasmnileExplorer

Food for thought. How many decades did it take to get the emissions on gas powered vehicles mostly reliable? And some of them still have problems.
Yes. Remember the air pumps and early versions of EGR valves........and how often they both broke?
And all this talk of diesels and coal? Technology will triumph. A local municipally owned coal fired power plant here has operated operated one of its two boilers with SCR catalyst technology (successfully) since 1996. The plant has exceeded all EPA air quality requirements in place at any time since it first went on line in 1987. And the operator continues to adapt, adding natural gas fueled combined cycle generating capacity, supplements its natural gas purchases with FREE landfill methane from the nearby county landfill, has built two multi-acre solar farms on its property, and ALL its water needs for power generation/cooling and anti-pollution equipment are supplied by reclaimed water from a nearby wastewater treatment plant.
It CAN be done, and at reasonable cost. - john_betExplorer IIFood for thought. How many decades did it take to get the emissions on gas powered vehicles mostly reliable? And some of them still have problems.

I would like to do an emissions inspection on that limo. I would fine the cr@p out of them if I didn't find a working DPF and SCR system on it. :B
I wonder why they did'n't use a 6.0 in it? :B - boshogExplorer
