Jayco camper sewer

We purchased a2008 jayco 213 last year and love it. My only complaint is that at several places we camped the sewer exit on the camper is lower than the campgrounds hookup, which is a real pain. Just wondering if anyone else out there has had this problem and how they solve it. Thanks in advance for the tips

Back the trailer up on leveling boards that are high enough to act as a work around but you will likely ALSO find driveways into gas stations, restaurants etc. to be more of a problem with the low ground clearance. This is especially so if you have a longer trailer with a long overhang. Really not very suitable for anything except perfectly level ground as found in many RV parking lots. Most "campgrounds" are not so flat either.

Not sure I agree with that. In the 10 years we had our low to the ground Kiwi I only dragged the bars a couple of times. And we took that trailer out west several times. Never a problem really. People make more out of the low clearance than is really a problem.
  • The outlet on my Jayco is on the front of the black tank, and the black tank is on the rear of the trailer so it works out great.

What I do is when my tank is full I use my electric jack to lower the nose of the trailer which in turn raises the rear. This will give you enough height to drain the tank.

Good idea, But won't that make the "stuff" in the tank run to the front of the tank, and not out the outlet?

  • It's actually BEFORE you purchase that issues like that should be considered. • One of the few drawbacks to owning a lightweight Jayco. We used to have an '03 Kiwi 17a hybrid. Very low to the ground. What Old-Biscuit said, "walk" the hose. It's never been a problem for us in the 10 years we owned it.
  • Got a hacksaw????? Cut off the too high pipe. You may want to ask first though.
  • Open the drain valves and the stuff will flow......tanks are higher than cg hookup.
Dump black tank first then dump grey water tank.
Then when done dumping you will have to 'walk' the sewer hose to drain it...probably a few times.
Leave grey water tank drain valve open so you have the vent on tank help move stuff in hose along as you walk it.

Just one of those things you have to deal with..........but ain't camping FUN :B

Course you could buy a portable macerator pump and pump your tanks out.......$$$ and much slower but you wouldn't have to walk the slinky.
