- CA_TravelerExplorer IIIThe battery in our Jeep FOB died and would not lock/unlock the doors from it's buttons. But when next to the door they would unlock in the normal grab the handle mode. Any insight to this?
Our 17 Lincoln MKX does not have a handle etc on the glove box ie no possible key. It's electrically opened by a button on the dash. Perhaps I should see if it opens without the FOB. - fj12ryderExplorer IIIJust gotta love the "convenience" of those "keyless" locks that need a backup key "just in case". If you have to carry a key in addition to the fob, why bother?

My DH wants to know how you get in your vehicle if it is locked when the battery dies when you have no key to open the door??
I have NEVER seen a "keyless" vehicle that didn't have a key on at least the drivers door and trunk. And every "keyless" vehicle I've seen has "blade key" that can be used to open the door and also start the vehicle. Sometimes the key slot for starting the vehicle is in an unusual place like in the center console.
And the blade key is in the "keyless" fob in one form or another.
Now on many vehicles if you lock the vehicle with the remote and open the door with a key, the alarm sounds until you place a valid key with sensor in the ignition switch. - CA_TravelerExplorer IIIOur Lincoln and Jeep have a key in the FOB.
- mich800ExplorerThat key in you fob also locks the glovebox
- rhagfoExplorer IIIYep key inside the fob on our 2016 Ram 3500 Laramie. DD VW has a cover over the key hole on the door so not obvious where to use the key!
Never considered this a nice option until we got it on this used vehicle. - RoyBExplorer IIThe older trucks all had the small vent windows. They was easy to either bust with a rock or pry open with something. If that got damaged not a big deal to replace haha... I had to do that one time years back...
No sooner than we got back in the truck then a police guy pulls up and gives us a ticket for walking in the Do NOT WALK zone which was clearly marked... Bad hair day I guess...
Roy Ken - BB_TXNomadYep, key inside fob (remote). Been there, had to do that.
- HalmfamilyExplorerThe key fob on my wife's Dodge Durango has a key inside it to manually unlock the drivers door.
- wanderingbobExplorer IIIt is a long story but once my fob battery went dead and the key was at home . An auto parts store right there , replaced battery and all was fine ,
The rest of the story , my wife had already taken off walking home and was not pleased that I was home when she got there !
