KZ Frontier 2809 Rear slide issues

Hi, first time user to this forum. I have a 2005 KZ Frontier 2809 with a rear queen slide. I bought the camper 3 years ago and my family has loved it. The last trip of last season when I put the camper away the rear slide aluminum track detached from the ceiling. The previous owner must of had this issue because there were multiple hole in the track which meant it came down before. The holes left in the track make it unable to reattach to the ceiling. Now the whole slide box is hanging down when its not supported, probably not good for it! Has anyone ever replaced these tracks with another type of material other an aluminum? I can get the original tracks through a dealer in Indiana but I know they will fail again, i'd like to fix it one time instead of multiple times. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • I had a KZ trailer with the same system. They did have an issue with the tracks pulling loose. The good news is that it is not a hard or expensive fix. You just need to find a good KZ dealer that actually sold that style slide when they still made them. I can point you to an excellent dealer in Ohio but I know that is not close to home.

I used to have a 2008 KZ 289 KS. The rear slides on KZ trailers use a cable system and slide on dual tracks which are attached to the ceiling.

If the tracks are that bad I would get new ones from KZ. I assume the screw holes are stripped. Were the tracks attached using every roof joist? How about filling the old holes in the ceiling with an epoxy filler and starting fresh. I think ours were attached with hex head screws. Perhaps a slightly larger screw? They have to be small enough to fit through the track slot and not interfere with the slide hardware though. Good luck!
