I'm new to seasonal. When I leave on Sundays, should I just turn off water at hose or completely disconnect the hose from the trailer also??

I have seen water flowing out door on next door camper,went and turned hose off..After seeing that I always turn off pump and shut hose off if leaving for a good while.Have heard quite a few stories on here.If leaving for the week I would disconnect hose,to prevent someone from turning on faucet,and possible accidental flooding.

If it makes you feel better, take the minute to remove the hose.

I'm not a seasonal RVer but if there is a risk of freezing temps or theft, I would remove the hose. Otherwise I think it wouldn't make much difference. From what I have observed, during the summer, most seasonals have all their hoses attached, present or not.When I leave the camper for the day I turn off the water at the CG faucet, and I turn off the pump if I am not using the water from the tank.

Just turn it off but easy to forget.We rarely use city water except to fill the tank. Instead use water from the tank with the pump. It's much easier to turn off the pump so that there won't be a surprise leak when we return. Plus should a leak develop we will hear the pump running. And we have a good idea of water usage from the idiot lights. Our fresh water tank lights which are reasonably consistent tells us all we need to know about water in all 3 tanks. Otherwise the main purpose for tank monitor lights is for the salesman to sell the rig.

We've been seasonals both north and south for many years. After one event in South Carolina where we went out for dinner and came back to a waterfall from our 5th wheel we had back then, I ALWAYS turn off the water. I use a two hose adapter and I shut off the turn-toggle on the adapter as well as the main spigot. In the past I have had someone use my garden hose and leave the main spigot valve open.As seasonals the only thing we leave on is the electric and I do keep all hoses connected when we leave.

This is exactly what we do for the same reasons, and we'd unhook even if lawncare wasn't a concern.

After $6000 in repairs due to a line blowing off.......I'm a convert to turning it off.

Our mishap happened overnight while sleeping. Woke up to 2" swimming pool in kitchen/living room and enough water had flowed out under slide outs that our site and adjacent site were flooded.

So YES.....turn it off and disconnect the hose when leaving for sure!!! :B

Probably just turning it off is plenty, but disconnecting is a for-sure. Once you've been at the CG for a while, you should have a feel for the area and the security. The one thing that disconnecting does is to highlight that no one is there. Most likely not a problem. If you just shut it off, be sure to remember to open the faucet furthest from the connection to let the pressure off and then close it back up.

If it ever freezes where you are leaving your trailer you would definitely want the city water hose disconnected from your trailer when you are not around.

I'm not a seasonal camper either but I would probably disconnect everything and lock it up best I could. I would definitely pull the battery leads as well.

Just the day: turn off at the spigot.
Overnight or longer: unattach everything, slides in, lock up and batten down.

We turn off shore valve or on board water pump when leaving the unit unattended.

I turn it off and disconnect if more than just the day. I've seen kids turn the water valve back on.I always have water in the rv tank, so it's know big deal or hurry when I get back.
