Liability

I doubt your insurance would cover it , if you were moving it for a friend and something happened , if he has full coverage insurance , that would cover it , no different than if his awning was out in a wind storm . If I were helping a friend move his trailer and he was guiding me back and I hit something because of him , I would say oh well , looks like you got to fix that .I would help him

Nobody is asking her to pay $2,000 for damages sustained. I simply asked which insurance company to submit the claim to. We have agreed to split the deductible, whichever policy pays. Not complicated. No blame game necessary. We were both involved in the poor decision.

If the insurance companies refuse to pay, we are both prepared to split the cost of the repair. No finger pointing or blame game necessary from those on here who think that I am abdicating my responsibly.

She is a keeper and I will advise her to cancel her insurance as people who cause accidents gladly pay for their mistakes. Sure they do.

Tom... Let me just ask you why you were towing their new trailer with your truck. Not saying it changes any legal obligations, but in my opinion it makes a difference.
1) had you borrowed it and they were guiding you back to the storage area?
2) owners truck broke down and you came to the rescue 200 miles away to tow their trailer home as a favor because they didn't have towing coverage?

Again I'm not passing judgement, but in my mind, the big picture sets the scene for the moral responsibility

Right. I should write a check for $2,000 to repair a trailer that is insured after the owner told me that I had cleared the offending tree. That may be the thing to do, according to you, but my question has to do with the liability of the two insurance companies involved.
