Should not. You can use a jumper wire from the battery hot side to the correct pin on your plug to power each part of the system. It is cheap and easy to do. If you do not have a chart of the plug wiring, do a search for Bargman wiring diagram on the internet and print it out. Luckily they are pretty standard. For a long time I used to have the male side with a wire screwed to the battery pin that I could just plug in and then connect to the correct pin to power the circuit I needed to check.
