So based on your cargo limits, you can carry 415 lbs in your truck and camper. This includes all passengers, any cargo you put in the truck (dont include gas), and anything that puts weight on the tongue.

we have a 6 cyl tacoma - it's a great tow vehicle, but I forgot to mention - we do use a weight distributing hitch and an anti sway bar. So far no problems. I'd guess we are around 2800 lbs or a bit more loaded, and we do load up the bed with stuff.

Your limiting factor is the cargo capacity of 1040lbs. Based on those numbers, I would travel light, and wouldn't carry anything in the truck bed, based on your potential 500-600lb trailer tongue weight.

I have all the specs from the truck now:

The combined weight of cargo and occupants should never exceed 1040lbs
GVWR: 5500LBS
GAWR FRT: 2775LBS
RR: 3110 LBS
GCWR: 11180 LBS
TWR: 6500 LBS

Does it help at all that the trailer has 2 axles?

i'd like to find out what the yellow sticker factory weight is, since the OP posted the fictional website/brochure dry weight.
the yellow sticker amount will actually tell how much real CCC the trailer has.

no trailer actually weighs the website/brochure number. so the weight of any options, battery, water, and propane, will take away from the CCC amount.
my Roo 23SS weighed 400lbs more, from the factory, than the website/brochure dry weight.

i think you're ok towing it but agree that you won't have much cargo capacity to work with.

You'll be ok with your rig. 800lbs of CCC is plenty as long as you're not hauling a load of wood and traveling with full water tanks. By comparison, ours has a bit over 900lbs CCC and loaded up for camping, we have barely 300lbs of gear for a family of 6. Just go out and enjoy and take it easy. Since you already have the hitch, just keep it--you'll be fine. We have a 1400/14000 hitch for our trailer (I know, overkill, but that's what dealer installed and we weren't very knowledgeable about it), but honestly the ride is not bad.

camp-n-family, We got that hitch because that is what camping world suggested to have. We are getting equalizer and prodigy.

Contrary to belief, I have not vacated discussion, just busy. I will post all said numbers as soon as I can get them. My husband drives Tacoma so I don't have it here at the moment. Just me (150lbs) and my husband (145lbs) traveling in truck with possibly grandson age 3. I had researched on here(I thought)and someone had posted a few equations for towing and the numbers I got, I thought fit within the towing equations and I thought I actually came in 1000lbs under on the GVW. My bad and will have to deal with it.

While I have not owned a Tacoma, I have researched them extensively since I am some what on the hunt for a new vehicle.

The 2wd SR5 Tacoma Double Cab I test drove had about 1100 lbs of payload per the door sticker.

The motor, while reliably (proven track record), it seems to make its power up higher in the RPM powerband.

This is a reliable truck that is capable of towing the said load.

It will Rev high in the RPM band on the Hills but it should have enough power to pull the trailer.

You will probably need a WD hitch, brake controller, and some common sense (set things up per instructions, load carefully.. etc.)
