Need advice - Newbie shopping for a Used Travel Trailer
Hey campers! New to the forum first time post. Hope my newbie questions don't get too much slagging ;-)
We are new to trailer camping and currently live in British Columbia. We are looking to buy a used travel trailer in the 24' to 28' range preferably '08 or newer (sub 8000lb GVWR). We are finding the whole process a little confusing.
First we are looking for tips and advice to help navigate the brands and models available in Western Canada/US North West. We understand that quality costs and are willing to pay for it however some brands look good on the surface but simply use sub par construction methods or materials. Since we don't have knowledge of the various quality and construction pros and cons used by the common, current brands. Simply said, we don't know what we don't know.
For example think entry level Keystone Springdale on the more affordable side versus the quality minded Outdoors RV Creekside/Blackrock. We are leaning more towards the Creekside/Blackrock quality but these are difficult or nonexistent to find used so we need to widen our net. Jayco, Keystone, Forest River, or any other manufacturers have a range of quality to entry level. With the large range of models it isn't obvious which is which. Quality construction practices not a pig in lipstick that looks pretty but falls apart in 3 years. We are looking for the quality brands but no need to go to Airstream quality. We won't own it for the the next 60 years ;-)
What other brand/model offer good value for quality construction?
Second any tips or advice to look for while shopping for used travel trailers. Again we don't know what we don't know and hope to glean some insight from some if the more more experienced RVers here.
Your tips are appreciated and happy camping!
