Yep and you could stay a day or two across from Point Reyes in Lawsons Landing...
There are some great places to see along the 101 or 1 route north!

- bigfootfordNomad IIISo from the two above posts the have provided more insight into why I said...
Walk to the Ferry... Ride it over, a great ride! Figure out what you want to do and go see the sights... For the things to see and do on the north end of the bay just take your TC. It is easy to get around and park.... Then you could go up to wine country... Healdsberg and West Side Road... or over to Sonoma for wine country.
Also there is a great exhibit in Sausalito. It is called the Bay Model... It is a huge building with the whole SF Bay and all the rivers that feed it.

Jim - profdant139Explorer IIWe stayed at Treasure Island in South San Fran, right by the BART station. A decent park -- just a parking lot with hookups -- but it served the purpose. Taking any vehicle, except maybe a motorcyle, into San Francisco itself is not fun -- very congested, very hard to find parking. South San Fran is much more suburban -- easy to get to.
- gregchambersExplorerJust a note on "removing camper" to tour SF with just your truck, we have stayed at Marin RV park and others near SF and most will not let you remove your camper so ask first before you make plans to remove your camper. It's not an issue for us but when asked they all state it is an insurance requirement. They are probably worried about them tipping over in an earthquake!

you can also consider camping like 1 hr away from the City, leaving the camper there and drive the truck only.
I was living 15 miles from the City for 26 years and never liked driving there.
It is good to follow "49 miles scenic view" and avoid parking downtown.
Here is campground where RV.net organized rally years ago. Good for the purpose
Remote SF campground.
The RV park I referred to in the link I provided is easy in and out unless you arrive or leave during high traffic times. I would avoid going across the Bay or Golden bridges though. Either come in from the north or from the N/E... Easy to circle around the Bay and stay out of the SF area.
From that RV park you can be in the city in 1/2 hr. No driving. And if you have bicycles, take them on the Ferry and then ride them back to the RV park.. Oh, some of the hills in SF are very steep....

There are a couple of RV parks in Larkspur/Greenbrae ... Walking distance to the Ferry! Take the Ferry over to SF and ride the trollies, take a tour, visit the Wharf etc.
This one is the best.. Reservations are needed.. 10 min walk to the ferry!

You can drive your TC to things that are on the North side of the bay... Go see the Maritime Museum in Sausalito, the WWII bunkers and lots more! Easy to get around with the TC.
Driving the TC in downtown SF is something I would not do!

$100 RV parks.... What is this world coming to???
Around SF things are not cheap. It is all high rent! - Kayteg1Explorer IIyou can also consider camping like 1 hr away from the City, leaving the camper there and drive the truck only.
