- goducks10ExplorerI drove a Ford Ranger for 12 years. Why? Because I didn't need a large truck. I was commuting and just needed to carry some work tools. Got better mpg than a full size truck. Maintenance was less too. Problem with posting topics about midsize trucks on this forum is that most on here think you need a DRW to tow anything and having a midsize truck is worthless. When an F150 is considered a grocery getter I can't imagine what a midsize truck is considered good for.
Midsize trucks fill a pretty good size nitch in the truck market. Not everyone needs to tow a TT. My sons a good example. He only tows a 17' ski boat. It would be a perfect truck for him.
While they can be pricey it's not apples to apples. A fully loaded Canyon will be considerably less than a fully loaded GMC 1500. - Fast_MoparExplorer

OK, I guess that means I am not "in the know" about trucks, even though I drove and towed with full size pickups for many years. Well, at least now I know that I am one who is not "in the know." - ACZLExplorerTo me and for those in the know about trucks, gas or diesel Colorado, a truck of this size and costing prit near what a full size 1/2 ton, I'd go w/ the 1/2 tone. Pricing of the Colorado is insane. I fully understand too that a full size truck is too much for some and the mid size is just right. However, I cannot justify spending 30-40K on a mid size and for 5-10grand more, you have a full size w/ a lot more capability.

Look at this way... It could be worse like that other brands diesel option! Pay more and tow less. :W
I think the new Colorado will be a strong seller, and the diesel option gives people another choice, which I feel is a good thing since one size does not fit all. I will seriously consider getting a Colorado as my next vehicle. This thread might generate some interesting discussions, but comments like this one will probably shut it down before it has a chance. - 45RicochetExplorerAt least you didn't mention the "brand" this time Troy. Baby steps are a start kiddo :B

Wow a huge increase of 700 lbs more more tow rating than the gasser for almost $4k. Glad I didn't need the diesel option :W

- And giving up 125 hp vs the gasser, the diesel will probably be slower in the hills... having said that, I think the Colorado diesel might be attractive to me for a daily driver that gets about the same mpg that my gas VW Passat gets, with some modest hauling and towing ability to boot. I would think that anyone who needs to tow anywhere near 7K would be looking hard at a full size pickup.
