- Carb_CleanerExplorerOver-all, it's got a nice layout. It has an openness to it, without a cave/secret hideout over-cab bed. I'm not a fan of slide-outs, due to their mechanical requirements, maintenance, weight, heat transfer and potential inconvenience while en route.
The blank tank is tiny, 13 gallons, and I'm definitely not a cassette-toilet person. Also, I don't think I understand having more fresh water capacity than grey and blank tanks, combined. I guess you might drink a lot of water and go #1 outdoors. I would prefer closer to at least 15 black, with 25 grey and 30 (+6 in water heater) fresh.
The two table options aren't to my liking. The little one, with the what-the-heck-is-this-pole-in-my-way side-mounted system, looks too small and appears to barely fit 2 dinner plates. The booth-style can only sit two people and requires storage when not in use. I like a galley sink that faces a window, and you better have some sort of splatter guard in front of those blinds while cooking.
I would think towing would be a bear, and, especially while towing, you'd probably need a dually, anyway. The combined thermostat, umbrella stand, charging center and window in the over-the-booth bunk (that I can only see in one pic of the TCM write-up, captioned "13-foot crank-out awning on the passenger's side") are nice touches. The length and side entry are kinda cool, and having a dry bath would be fantastic, but this unit is not for my particular wants/needs. - sky_freeExplorerI suppose not having a basement has certain advantages, but this would worry me: "Our grey and black tanks are only about four or five inches tall and forty-five inches long." I always hated dumping those types of tanks that are common on Travel trailers. Has to be sloped toward the drain or it's impossible to get everything out of it. Fresh water tanks that are like that are worse because it has to be level below 1/3 tank or so or the water won't pump out.
- PowerdudeExplorerOh, come on.
Extend it out 3 more feet, and make it a two bedroom camper, and add a tag axle.
Might as well add that classy 70's stepped roof with the bunkhouse for the kids.
If you gonna go big, you might as well go all the way. Full retro !! - 12V_CumminsExplorerLooks like an awesome camper can't wait to see one. As for weight it is lighter than most 8' and 9' truck campers with slides that have basements and are 8' wide! I'd load this up on a SRW and be happy all day long.
- BedlamModeratorNot having a basement keeps the height down but limits the size of the tanks. We could not use this setup unless mostly on hookups.
After looking at the triple slide Host Mammoth and Eagle Cap 1165, I definitely like the open space and couches these offer. Too many of the TC's remind me of narrow galley kitchens.
I think there is a demand for this style of TC and those guys on the east coast that have beaches allowing only certain types of vehicles will benefit, but it will be taxing most OEM SRW rim and tire capacities once loaded for camping.
Having 4' of overhang will require a serious hitch if you are towing. some of the guys getting away with lighter hitches and short extensions will have to start looking at SuperHitches. - kerry4951ExplorerProbably the nicest non slide TC that Ive seen for awhile. Dry bath and 8 cu ft frig are both very nice in any TC. Plus it seems to have very nice overall open floor space.
- realterExplorerI'd have to trade for a bigger truck, I thought everything looked good except I'd lower the back window and take out the shelf and make room for a comfortable seat like the large Lance. I don't like sitting on the uncomfortable dinette cushions.
- GWolfeExplorerI like the way the dinette converts from booth to the U dinette, nice camper.
- Artum_SnowbirdExplorerI looked at the online pictures, and did not care for the tight position of the toilet seat. They said they fiddled with toilet arrangement with full size mock ups but I say do away with the window, put the toilet in the corner where the sink is, and face it in at an angle, and put the sink between the toilet and shower with the mirror where the window is.
- Northstar site says window in entry door is an option.
The 12STC is the closest I've seen to the perfect RV for me in a long time.
