So says a website that is talking about the new Ram Rebel TRX. They say the truck will come with a choice of gas engines. A new 7.0L 426 Hemi or the current 6.2L Supercharged Hemi. I could see that 7.0L going into the HD trucks like the 6.4L did. :BThat would be awesome! What do you guys think the specs would be? The current 6.4L Hemi is 475-485 hp in the cars, and 410 hp in the trucks. I'm thinking the new 426 cu in gas engine will get back to the high 400s for hp and tq. The same website (5th generation RAMS) also mentions the 2020 HD Cummins will have a CGI block. I wonder if it will finally break 1000 lb-ft from the factory. You have to think Ram and Cummins want to be the first to break the 4 digit tq barrier.In any case, it's a great time to be truck shopping.

They have to be able to keep it cool under the duty cycle. I think they will just tune it for more lower end torque with same hp. Tow more like the diesel.

Interesting. I'd like to see a transmission that is better suited to the HP and torque range of the 6.4. The 6.4 is a powerful beast, that appears handicapped by a poor fitting trans.

7.0 for Ford now possibly Ram. Wow what an exciting time for gas engines. I’m sure GM will follow suite as well as time goes on.

I agree that they will have a different cam to lower the RPMs and increase low end torque then what would be in an auto.

426 cubic inches? Seems to ring a bell from decades ago.

Just an opinion, but it seems a lot of people report much lower MPG with the pointed front ends like the trailer above. Speed and location are probably bigger factors.

My V10 F350 Dually got 7.5-8 mpg towing a 31.5 ft travel trailer with a golf cart in the bed.

It seemed to have respectable power, albeit with several downshifts from the transmission required. But at what a price in fuel consumption. I don't see the enthusiasm for a bigger gas engine from Chrysler. They already had the 8.0 liter V-10, which wasn't all that great. Just my $.02

We had one of the first 2001 8.1 liter in our 3500 that had only one issue as well as most. It was the NSB switch. The Allison worked great when we traded for the 05 duramax at 58000 miles. This trannie was great for towing folks as Ford and Dodge improved their products.

I have a 2001 Suburban 2500 w/8.1L and 4L80 transmisson w/no problems. I have heard of problems with that transmisson. JMO

I spoke to a Lady on the Cummins Plant tour in Columbus in 2016 as she was filling in on the tour. She had the "cat ate the canary" smile on her face when I started asking her about the future of the 6.7. I assumed it was a goner. She smiled and said it WILL be a 6.7 and that was the project she had been working on. Further reports say ALL the emissions WILL be under the truck and HP and TQ #'s will rise dramatically just from this.

She said it was for the 2019 model year trucks.

As production of the 7.3 comes online, the V10 will be phased out. Both are made at the Windsor Engine plant.

No idea where you are coming from with that statement. EVERY TIME a diesel engine comes out, there is an increase in HP and TQ. And the current trucks are getting equal or better MPG to their pre-emissions ancestors, with twice the power.

I would be shocked if all three diesels aren't above 1000 TQ in the next few years. And I would be equally shocked if the big gassers are much more than half that amount of torque. At 30% or more less MPG.
