- ShinerBockExplorerI am kind of tired of the Ike too. It was cool to see at first because no one was doing it, but it has come to a point that you kind of know what to expect. Although I do wish they would buy something like an Edge CTS so we can look at parameters like EGT, boost levels, fuel rail pressure, regenerative status, EGR flow, trans temp, oil temp, and coolant temp. It would be interesting to see what these would be when a truck is pushed to its limits.
Seeing fuel rail pressure drop would be definitive way of knowing if the truck is defueling. - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIThe 10 speed with lower combined load should have stomped the measly 6 speed with 6 tires dragging the road.
Same downhill braking. GM should have been better with lighter load and higher revving engine to give more braking HP.
Heavier combined load but better economy.
How many here still think the “BRANDED” 10 speed is the Savior??? - Me_AgainExplorer IIISo, the driver had input, as in both cases he let up on the throttle to stay below 60. Was it the same amount? Dead even but not a scientific test.

13 % better fuel economy with the Duramax is significant. Especially considering it likely ran at a higher rpm than the higher torque Cummins.
The Duramax computer said 3.4 mpg, Cummins said 3.6 mpg.
Either way, I don't think it means anything. - 4x4ordExplorer III13 % better fuel economy with the Duramax is significant. Especially considering it likely ran at a higher rpm than the higher torque Cummins.

Didn't watch the vid, but amazes me that they cannot get the same specs for trucks to do a sxs comparo. Don't see how a fair comparo can be done otherwise.
They explain that in the video :) IdaD wrote:
I'm kinda maxed out on how many times I can watch some fat guys drive up a hill.
Then we should expect no more comments from you on future Ike Gauntlet pulls.
OP,
Thanks for sharing this video...- ksssExplorerIt appears to me that 16K isn't enough to challenge either pickup. GM a tad more hp and Ram 100 more pound feet of torque, and GM more gears. Be interesting to see how it shakes out at max capacity.

- larry_barnhartExplorerI enjoy the videos and whatever the results are is ok.
