I am thankful there are buyers for used my vehicles - It allows me to clear out the drive or garage for my next interest. I buy new and used vehicles and eventually want to sell my used vehicles, so I am glad there are buyers out there. However, I don't have give away my vehicles like the poster hopes for...

:B...yeah, an 85K truck for 10K:R....he's got a long wait....(who pays 85K for a truck? That's over 23K more than what I paid for my 16!!??)

Same here, i saw a Mercedes loaded for about 68K, and told my wife, that was a pretty good deal...it's called "getting used to it by now":)

Your purchase advise is sound. I got good resale on my XL trimmed F250 with 6.0 PSD despite all the negativity here about that engine and Ford in general. This time around I did not buy a Ford, but my 5500 is Tradesman trim. Both trucks are loaded with towing and hauling options that make them useful for me and very salable/desirable when I am ready for a change.

As far as prices: My trucks have doubled in cost for each one I have purchased since the early 80's. I'm on my fourth one now...

Yup. sticker shock for sure. It's why I have an XLT and not a decked out model. Still paid 48K for my 2015. Sticker was 54K+. Sadly, once the salesman gets you in his tentacles, all they want to sell you on is payment. There are financial institutions that will finance these trucks out to NINE years! Once some buyers hear the payment amount they can affoard....SOLD!

My truck MSRP was $74,700...now knock almost $13K off that right off the bat, and thats where we starting bargaining...NOBODY pays sticker, so don't know why it's always quoted as though that is what some dummy is actually going to pay....I felt I really got a great deal for all the latest greatest technology and full warranty..but who cares..I'm stupid for doing such a thing busting my butt to earn my money, and spending it for what I want...I don't have the right to do that:R

Yeah they're expensive now a days...WHAT ISN'T?! I've been around a while also...nothing is cheap worth having...

So feel good about your cut on those of us who do it differently...just because some us do buy new, it is our life and our money, and what I have purchased, I could easily afford and PLANNED on it...heck, been married almost 46 years, raised three very successful children and survived a war, and am trying to come back from a stroke..forgive me for spending my money on what I want to..:R

It's automobiles also. The cost of all will likely continue to drastically increase. One of the primary culprits is the latest CAFE standards which require mpg goals that are very aggressive.

EPA was warned by auto manufacturers that although CAFE stds were achievable, prices would soar. The driver of the latest set of CAFE stds was the so-called endangerment finding where EPA concluded CO2 emissions were a danger to human health and the environment. Moral: for every action there is reaction. Hence: as auto makers push the technology edge, prices soar as predicted.

Some even predict that we will look like Cuba driving in reconstituted jalopies as prices for new vehicles escalate to the point where the middle class can no longer afford them.

It is amazing that these truck prices now rival the cost of a brand new Class A motor home!
